Default Sentra SE-R Kill/Death

I raced a Sentra Se-R a guy at my job owns, it has the SR20DET engine swap, b/c, exhaust headers, 6 inch exhaust tip ect. I basically got hustled his so called 14 second car beat me by 6-8 lenghts each time. We would be even until about 70 when he would fly past me like I was hitting the brakes. He just took his car to Palmdale (4000 feet) and ran a 12.5 at 105. He insults my car daily talking about how his car costed 6 grand to build and how I have a POS that I paid 13 or 14 grand for. O.K. to each his own, but he started talking about how his beater(another Sentra) would mop the floor with my "slow *** Camaro". I call him out for cash, and he wouldnt do it till his ricer buds start egging him on. He measured out an 1/8(his thoery was that he would launch on me and I would never catch up) and we lined em up for 50 bucks. I instantly put a 1.5-2 lengths on him and kept pulling through the 1/8. He excuse was "its a new Motor/tranny combo and I need to brake in the clutch". That was cool but I want to take out his pride and joy I'm thinking it runs high 12's on street tires, I should be there with the bottle but I get harassed by the police so much that I might get caught with the stuff and have to see a state ref.

I'm saving up for a full exhaust, Catback or true duals, headers, y-pipe, and a lid right now I want to get it all done at the same time. That should get me a cool 25-35hp over stock and improve my top end right?

here is some facts for you. im an auto vert at that keep this in mind.

i went 13.6@104 in the spring at about 50 degree with a 2.19 60ft.

well i got lt headers/ tsp true dual exhaust and tsp airlid.

and in 90 degree summer heat i went 13.019@107mph my mph will probly jump another 1-2 just in cool weather once it drops back down. so im almost trapping 109-110 with an auto convertible with basic boltons and 3.23 gears at that

ask him for a roll race. sounds gay but something is wierd though 12.5@105 he must have been running slicks. sentras even with the swap dont make much tq and are supposed to hurt on the bottom end. looks like he has gears probly 4ish because of his low trap with a mid 12. i trapped same speed as him stock and im assuming you would also or better. when he talks trash just say i can go headers/lid/exhaust/cam and you will pwn him pretty good. and still be a HELL of alot more reliable.

He was running slicks thats why I think he's high 12's on street tires, how much did your t/d, headers set up cost you?

To give you an idea...I spent about $900 bucks for my Pacesetter LT's, ORY, and Tune. I installed them myself and dynoed at 345. No catback, its just dumped. Now go and run something similar and blow his doors off

how difficult is the install of the headers and y pipe? I'm not at all opposed to using used parts to cut costs I want to keep it at about 1000 or less.

Since your an Automatic you'll have to probably remove the steering column. You just need to have patience and a damn good 10MM wrench and socket. You can get a set of brand new Pacesetters and ORY for 500 bucks. The tune was 400 bucks for me, but it made me 26 ft/lbs and 18 HP, definitely worth it.

That doesnt sound very easy, is it something my mechanic(25/hr labor) can do or will I have to take it a muffler shop?

250 bucks and I'll do the headers and Y pipe for you. The Y pipe comes with clamps.

Someone is not a ricer just because they own an import. Now that that's clear...

6 inch exhaust? that's really, really big. the engine he's got in there is the same used in some of the big hp 240sxs (silvias), so they can be beastly. the fact that you were even til 70 makes it seem like he's upgraded the turbo causing so big turbo lag.

nice runs.

SR20DET is a Turbo-4. It comes in the Nissan Silvias, Nissan Bluebirds, Nissan Pulsar GTi-Rs and various other non-U.S. Nissan cars. Not the Skylines. The Skylines have the RB25 (GTS models) and the infamous RB26DETT in the GTR models. The RB-motors are inline 6's.

The domestic Sentras, Infiniti G20's etc do come with the SR20DE motors. No "T" = Non-turbo.

No big deal man. It's easy to confuse those damn import motors with their multiple character acronym names.

it wasnt the SR20DE...it was the SR20DET the JDM block. No turbo upgrade but that's his next mod.

6 to 8 lengths, on a mostly stock bolton sr20det swap, running headers with a turbo?? doesnt sound right to me. normaly that motor is used in rwd applications from what i know, never heard of it in a fwd sentra se-r. and the sr20-det is only rated at like 210 hp(flywheel), so unless he did sum major mods and lied, you shouldnt have gotten killed by that much.
