Are vettes really that fast?
Yea something definitely sounds wrong. Your car should have been able to pull pretty easily unless he was lying about his mods. Did he not know how to launch? I'd try to get a rematch from a dig is possible; if he kept that close to you from a dig he'd have to have way more mods unless your car wasn't running right.
I'd think you would have edged him a little bit unless he is hiding a mod or two from you. I really don't know how well the LT1's do on the top end though. I raced a heads/cam stroker motor Fox body about 3 weeks ago though from 0-130 and he beat me by 1/2 a car. I've got intake, exhaust, longtubes, and hp tuners. He was a vert though so the thing weighed almost 4K lbs.
Back when I was making 375 at the wheels with my 224 and LTs i was murdering stock c5's. Z06 was a different story, those ******* could pull. It definitly takes more then exhaust on a c5 to hang with a 375 hp fbody. Id gather this guy wanted excuses just in case he lost so he said he had less mods then he really did.
post up your graph if you have one.

That dyno reads low too, they adjusted the load so the tunes were more accuate. A 6-spd 2004 GTO with a catback baselined at 280rwhp
.This is before the ported manifold, and 58mm throttle body. I ran a 12.4@114 before the true duals, tune, tb, manifold, ect too, so my car should be trapping a few mph higher.
some ls1 f-bodies have trapped 109mph stock. i'm sure a lighter c5 would be able to trap 111-112mph stock. intake and exhaust + tune gives you your exhaust 2mph trap speed and the aerodynamics give the vette the win from a roll
hell C & D took one to 13.1 @ 111mph

and I raced my friends vette. I think its an 01, it has intake, and a catback, and I think it has a tune. For a little background info on my car, I have whats in the sig. Before the dyno tune, ported intake manifold, and 58mm throttle body I ran a 12.4@114 in 80 degree weather. So back to the race. We went from a slow roll, ~30mph, both of us are 6-spds. The first race he was staying right next to me, so in 3rd gear I got pissed and sprayed him. Then we go again, a 2nd time, motor vs motor, 30 roll, and we were DEAD even up to ~135mph, with him inching on me topend.
My car doesn't seem down on power, I dunno what gives. Are vettes that much superior to us?
Edit, I have heads/cam/true duals, ect. I put down 375/360 before the ported intake manifold, and ran a 12.4@114 in 80 degree heat before the tune, true duals, and manifold.

I also have a Vette horror story, I'm not really sure what to make of it- Halltech intake only on a FRC and it whored me from 25 (my best spot.) I took off as strong as always but I can always hook from 25. He spun the tires like crazy at 25 and just kept pulling and pulling. Probably put 1.5 to 2 grey hounds between us by 130.
Thing is the guy is an ***hole. he took the jump at second honk like 3 times that night, and his passenger kept telling everybody that you can never let anyone know what your mods are.
Don't mean to hi-jack thread. So yeah, if the guy wasn't lying I really want a FRC.

Power to weight ratio, Sleeker, less aerodynamic drag, is what won the race.(or made it an even stalemate)
The vette that hung with you just went 12.9 @ 111mph last week.
You shouldn't feel soo bad man....you hung witha 40,000 car. Granted, you can pick them up for a quarter of that now but,.....you get the idea.
Corvettes, I don't think get the proper respect people outta give them. They really are strong running cars right outta the box. Little bolt-ons...equal good power and a nicly refined power curve.

I know I'm just a stock auto, but I ran a 13.13 @ 105. My friend's 99 FRC 6 speed with LS6 and ziptie mod went 12.5 @ 110 so add exhaust and you never know.
