Default H/C 383 stroker LT1 vs Single turbo Rx7

My girl and I just left the movie theater parking lot and this white LT1 camaro with the SS hood comes up next to me and throughs a small rev. This thing sounded Nasty. I don't know much about Those cars but I figured it was cammed because it was loping very hard. Well I return the rev but we don't have any room ro run. We end up at a red light ( behind 2 cars) And He compliments my car. I told him to follow me and we pulled into a parking lot. I asked what he had and he said it was a H/C 383 stroker, with forged internals. He just bought a nitrous kit but it wasn't on the car yet(luckily for me)

Well I told him my setup and we complimented each others rides and decided to run them on a nearby deserted road. We get there and go from a 1st gear roll. He honked it off and on 3 we both hit it. First gear was over in almost an instant as we both spun. I slam 2nd and glance over to see this guy is still door to door with me All through 2nd I continue to hear his menacing motor roaring right next to me, not gaining any ground nor loosing any... My external wastegate was screaming just as lound as if challenging me to push it even harder, faster. 3rd gear came with a quick chirp and guess who is still right next to me not giving up any ground what so ever?...But wait... by the middle of 3rd I finally start to inch away from him. We shut down at the end of my 3rd gear(about 100mph) with his front bumper at my passenger door and me still slowly walking away.

Earlier in the parking lot we agreed not to stop after the race to avoid any more attention. So after the race we exchanged thumbs up and went our separate ways at the next light. I wasn't running full boost but If he had his nitrous kit hooked up I don't think it would have mattered( unless it's only a 50 shot lol) he would have had me. He was riding solo while I had my GF. but he was a heavy set guy that couldn't have weighed much less than me and my GF put together.

Damn good race with a cool guy.

I'm running a T04R on my FD with street ported motor.

It was a 6 speed. I dynoed 390 on low boost,(this run) And about 420 on high boost with a little bit more room to push it. but I ran out of pulls. And it was 106 degrees in the shop that day.

Good run . What kind of power are you making he should be well over 400 to the wheels with that combo

How many pounds are you pushing? Seems with a T04r you should have pulled him. How much are you making, around 400-450 at 13-15psi I would assume.

Low boost is 13-14psi and high is 16 but i can turn it up to 17psi. I should be able to make over 450 after i get my alky injection and retune. But 91 octane pump gas is currently limiting my tune.

He said 390 on low boost, but then the Camaro would weigh prob. 600 lbs. more.

Weight plus gearing I would assume.

LT1s capable of 9000 rpm?

he was probably shifting between 6500-7000 rpm.

Wow, I knew he was winding it out but i had no idea it could go that high.

Edit...6-7 sounds more reasonable. but still impressive.

I know I use to have one back in 2000. I think the redline was 8000, but I know of people that where making power past 8000. Mine was completely stock except for an exhaust and intake. I only had it for about 1 month, before I got rid of it(long story)

An lt1 or ls1 needs to be built to handle 9000rpm(notice your 5800 rpm redline or whatever it is). You would most likely need to destroke your motor in order to achieve 9000rpm status.

Stock twins and bolton's. This should be the end of the debate hp vs torque.

I was wondering why you ever even said 8000rpms, unless you were trying to tell him what his OWN car redlined at, lol.
