Still lost to buddies Evo VIII :(
Well the last time we raced a few months ago we went from about 55-130mph. At the time, he had BR Stage I at 19psi. I had a lid and open cutout. He put 1.5 cars on me by 95 and held it.
We went back out tonight with the mods in my sig. Since then he has installed BR Stage II and replaced his cats with straight pipes. I also think that he has had additional tunning done. We did the exact same race and we came out with the exact same result. I stayed right with him from 60-105 or so and then he took the 1.5 car lead and held it. I'm an A4 so it shifted to 3rd at around 90mph. The tranny has just been rebuilt and I am having no problems with it. I thought for sure it would be completely even I'm seriously getting a six-speed in the next 10 months. Damn those Evos do run extremely well though.

yeah, my buddy has an evo and they are pretty quick. id get stall, sum gears and tires you'd be ready to go. all else fails, get a nitrous kit and yu will own the road again.

I would think that the higher the speed, the more advantage I would have. Although I would like to see what running at 25-30 would be like. I doubt that racing from a stop with a stall and tires would be any help at all. He is pulling 1.70s with plenty left on the table with his 2-step (building 13lbs at launch).

you need a stall bad. Gears will help too but I would make the stall my first if money is tight. And juicing your ride will be more impressive than you think. I figured your at 3600 pounds and putting down over 500whp, like I said, you will do better than you think against your friends.

race him from a roll at like 30. thats a little fast for 1st gear and i think a little to solw for 2nd. if hes in 2nd his revs will be lower and he might have some lag. unless he knows how to brake boost. if thats so get a 150 shot.

ya id run him from a 20 kick or a 60 kick that is def the sweet spots, i love it ill hold it at 20MPH and then just floor and the thing just takes off perfect speed for stock gears and at 60 you can downshift to 2nd and will be at bout 4500RPM or round there and man its great.

Get rid of that f*ckin convertible
____
Stall first.... Then Gears.
If you matched him now, you will smoke him with a stall.
When you get one....
Race him from a dig or very slow roll with hot sneakers.
You will not regret getting a Stall.
I recommend Vigilante or Yank.

I'd consider a cam and stall...if that doesn't work there is always the bottle. You are already at a disadvantage with your car being a convertible...they are heavier and are not as efficient at getting power to the ground. You always could go the FI route too. One quick note is that you will need some tires that can hook with a stall as you don't want to be sideways at 50+mph.
