A gen 2 rt 10 and gen 2 GTS have exactly the same power. if anything the gen 2 rt 10 is faster than the GTS in the 1/4 mile since it's 60 pounds lighter...

But then the GTS can hit 190 mph vrs 180 mph for the gen 2 rt 10 due to aroodynamics...

Dont catergorize all rt 10's as being slower than the GTS....Gen1 rt10's..YES....Gen 2 rt10's and the GTS are EXACTLY the same car minus the body.

This guy with 350 rwhp lost by around a car...So 400 rwhp should hopefully do the trick....

As for CTSV defending the gen 1 because he has one...Lets just say that his gen 1 Viper has nonthing to fear from just about any head cammed LS1...

If you'd like to compare apples to apples I'd bet the 95 ZR-1 would walk it also. I'm not hating on Vipers, I love the SRT's and GTS's. I understand you have a Gen1 so naturally you'll defend it.

Your kidding right?

I also have an LS6. I never defended it, I agree the Z06 will beat it. But a ZR-1....come on now...is that with the "power up" button on ??? hahaha.

Peace.

I have never personally run a ZR-1 but many people on the corvetteforum say they will run right with a stock Z from a highway roll. I don't think they 1/4 quite as well but once they get into the high rpm's they're a formidable opponent. I guarantee at least a close race between a 94 ZR-1 vs. 94 RT-10, so your "too bad it took a decade" comment doesn't hold water.

You might be right, but I am still curious if that is with the super power button on or off :-)

But the ZR-1 was even more limited than the Viper, I believe 501 were made the first year of the viper (1992).

Cool car.

What's the matter? You don't like GM's knight rider 'valet' option?

I like it, it just cracks me up, its not actually a power up setting, its a power reduction. After all, you never get more than rated HP. :-)

Cool car.

But could be bought for $48000 at the time. Vettes were $40k at the time and that zr-1 was 50k. Damn, too bad Dodge didn't keep those vipers at around $50k still. It would be just as many today as corvettes on the road.

Besides, I thought the valet option was great. I think it wouldn't go over 60mph and won't rev past 2500, lol.

Good point, for the money the ZR-1 was a good deal for a couple years, but the base model C4 became too close in performance by 94 for consumers to justify the extra $$$.

Gen 1 -400hp = win
Gen 2 -450hp = tie/loss
Thats the way I see it. Also if he's the typical viper owner he cant even drive the car, so just run him and see how you do. Good luck and post up the results!

How much power did the C4 have in 94? I thought they were 300bhp and the ZR-1 was 405. I don't think that would be much of a race at all. I know there's a vid floating around of a C5 with exhaust against a stock ZR-1 from a punch on the e-way and the ZR-1 walked it.

typical drivers cant handle a high hp car for performance driving.
typically, the type of people that can afford vipers, arnt race car drivers.

so, id agree with that statment, and if you find it offends you, just consider yourself a better driver then the typical viper driver.. lol.

(btw, same applies for all other performance cars too)

So since F body's are cheaper, the typical F body driver is better? I am little confused there.

Not taking it personal, just trying to make sense of it is all.

Out of curiousity, and off topic, why does the 1990 ZR1 smoke the 94 model 1/4 mile wise? Every advertised time i've seen for the 1990 shows that it runs faster, despite having less horsepower.

HP for the ZR-1 varied from high 370's to 405. Its a well documented fact that sales of the ZR-1 plummeted after a couple few years, not a knock on the car, more of a priase for how good of a value the base C4 was at the time.

I am pretty sure the stock 6 speed LS1 C5 would beat the ZR-1...well depending on the year. The ZR-1 was all over over the board with 1/4 times, ranging from high 12's to huigh 13's.

Heres a good recap of all the years, I almost bought one a couple years ago, but at the time couldn't justify it. Kind of wish I had.

Actually the 1990 and 1993's (same as 94) both traped at 111, the 90 was a 12.9 and the 94 was a 13.1. The 1994 had more power but a little more weight more weight.

They had the same gears, I do think the LT5 developed power more flat though.

Enough with the what will happen posts. Thats what the forum formerly known as the racers lounge and currently known as seatstaysup.com is for. Just run him and then come back and tell us what happened. (nothing pisses me off more than when people write up these what will happen posts and then never post the outcome). Videos are always are appreciated. If you are really worried about it there is always a 150 shot for added insurance.

P.S. If you win does that mean you're getting fired or getting a promotion?
