the 96-98 cobras are good competition for 93-97 lt1's ... same times stock essentially.

both run high 13's stock. i ran one with pully set, off road x, catback, intake, ignition, and was dead even.

hate to say it, but the ls1's really pull harder than lt1's.

I don't understand all the cockyness from the f-body owners? Why do you hate Ford and the Mustang? My next car is going to be a Mustang. I'm wanting a '95 black Cobra, because I really love the SN95 styling with the 302 pushrod.

But back to the subject, you shouldn't have even worried about a '98 Cobra with just exhaust. Nice kill though. Also, I noticed that you said '93-97 style...the '93 Mustang was still a fox body style. '94-98 is the SN95 style, with '94/95 Cobra still having the 302 2v pushrod and the '96-98 Cobra having the 281 4v modular.

+11111 I agree. I respect all muscle cars. I can't believe there isn't more respect in here towards stangs. Then again, mustang boards are quite rude to Chevy's.

And what's wiht the 'no love' for the N/A 4v? Do you all truely believe the 'terminator' is the only ones to watch out for? No respect for machs or 99/01 cobra's?

BONE stock 98 cobra are dogs. I've seen them dyno 250-260rwhp. Now a moddied 98 is a different story. I have a 98 Cobra and I had longtube headers, o/r x-pipe, bassani cat back, 4.10s, and a steeda timing adjuster. I'm guessing with that set up I was around the 275-280rwhp. I raced a 99 TA M6 with a lid and a tune and I think found out that he dynoied around 325-340rwhp. Anyway, from a 2nd gear punch I was with him every single time until I hit 5th and he just took off. He ran a 13.3-13.1 at 109. 109 trap speed is a mid 12 second car if he hooks?? He is on here so if I am wrong, correct me. But now I have a blower so it is a little different now. Just my 2 cents. Good kill.

Ya mildly modded 96-98 cobras are not that hard to beat. But a properly gear n/a 96-98 cobra is nothing to sneeze at. I hold my own against alot of other cars that have way more hp than me. I went 12.60's with less than 300rwhp and full weight with just bolt-ons and nittos. I think that's pretty good for such a unrespected car.

lol. They only part that pisses me off is that my wife's ls1 dynoed almost as much as me when she was bone stock. Damn cubes! -Mark

Most people don't realize that the 4v motor is in the Mach 1's. It's the same 4v that's in the 03/04 Cobras, but it isn't S/C...it's forged though. I believe it's the same 4v that's in the non-forged 99/01 Cobras. I give tons of respect to Ford. You usually don't hear this, but I'm a Chevy/Pontiac/Ford guy. I would buy any brand of those 3 cars before I ever bought anything else.

correct. Forged in the manuals, cast in the auto. Both with tooth pick rods and hypereutectic (aka butter) pistons. -Mark

Thanks for the respect man.

And he is correct...only the M5s have forged cranks, the reast are crap internals.........10.0:1 - 10.3:1 (pending where you read) CR though, which makes for apretty nasty N.A. And the breathing of the 4V, and you ahve a nice setup.

Heads and Cams are the exact same as the 03/04 cobra's though......

BTW - I used to have an 03 cobra vert....but sold it. If it wasn't for the warranty, my wife would have tossed on a Procharger or Kenne Bell...not to shabby of a woman if you ask me/

Just cuz i can't win won't stop me from trying. it's all in fun, not to get mad over. Yeah, a 03 cobra could beat me but i'm not gonna get mad about it and try to argue with everyone here and say i could take one. if i could afford one i would probably have one anywayz. I'm just saying i like to race mustangs, not trying to say they suck or anything. even the sc saleens could beat me too, 365 hp (i think). It's just about having fun, and sorry if i made you mad, really didn't mean to. I race my friends camaro ss and it's a drivers race between us. i won once and last night he got me by half a car lenght or so. Not trying to argue with you man, i agree 100%, unless an 03 cobra misses a gear or something! I think black is the only color to go with when u get one, just looks sweet.

Actually, you would be surprised at the S/C saleens. The New Edge were rated at 360 (370 in '04)....but they only dyno'd 310-320.....add the additional weight into the factor......you would be surprised. I would put my money on a lightly modded mach or lightly modded Fbody over a Saleen. I like those stangs, but they are mis-leading in the 1/4 mile side of performance.

cool, i had no idea. the saleen i raced wasn't supercharged, i knew that cuz i sucked him up too quickly and passed too fast(he just took off with no notice). well, it should be a good race then, i wish i knew someone with one so i could get a run. and what is the real horsepower on the ls1's? I'm so confused cuz i saw a 2000 trans am with a lid and cat back dyno'd 336 rwhp. maybe he was lying?
