10sec Grand National
So i called out a "10" sec grand national. I ran him before him at 16 pounds of boost and drag radials with my car no spray and put 2 cars on him by 3rd. I told him to turn his boost up and run me with better gas and he said ok i guess he can go to 24 pounds with race fuel. He has a fully rebuilt motor with a 6 angle valve job and a bunch of other ****. I guess when i ran him the first time he was on 16pounds and we ran from a dig. This time im going to spray on him with his boost upped and its from a roll do you think its a 10sec car like he says. Thats what he was told it should run hes never ran it. I mean i walked on him before will that extra boost really matter. I dont want you to tell me who will win or lose just if its a 10sec car or not and if im going to embaress myself. lol

from my experience when someone says "it SHOULD run XX time i just never ran it" its usually slower it just "feels" like it should be that fast... specially when ur going from a roll.... if u could roll in a 1/4 who knows how fast stuff would be lol... But i doubt its a 10 second car... But does it sound like it could be? When u raced him the first time what was u doing in the 1/4? turnin the boost to 24 lbs will net him about 70- 80 more HP tho.

A lot of it is going to depend on his exact mods. With a boost controller/adjustable wastegate you can run 24 pounds on the stock turbo, but will it run 10s, most likely not. As far as the rebuild with "6 angle valve job", that could be a local "who knows" machine shops handywork, or it could be a turbo Buick guy who knows what the score is. That's the beautiful part about GNs, just by looking at it/hearing it you may be hard pressed to figure out if it runs 12s or 10s. If you get a chance to look under the hood, try to spot things that would suggest a GN set on "kill", such as 3" or larger downpipe, external wastegate, 70mm throttlebody, aluminum heads, front mount or underhood liquid intercooler and the like. These are the marks of a car that can and will hand you your ***.

Ok thanx guys i personally dont think its a 10sec car thats why i quoted it. At the track ive seen grand nations rip out of the hole and sound way meaner than his car and make a high 11sec pass.

Like I said, just hearing it means very little if anything. An otherwise stock GN with a dump pipe will sound pretty damn wicked and may run in the 13s, while another with full exhaust (pretty quiet, in fact) may have beastly mods under the hood and run a 10 flat. Very hard to judge. Run him at your own risk I say.

i doubt its a 10 sec car, if you beat him on his street trim with a 12.73 (im guessing around 108-109 mph) and you pulled him at 16 psi then either hes not running well or its not a 10 sec car. at 16 psi my car which has only gone 11.45 at a tick under 118 at 23 psi has gone 11.93 at 112 on 16 psi and i have a pretty small turbo on it (PTE44). Basically what im saying is that if its a supposed 10.7-9 car on race gas it should still be a 11.8-9 car at least on 16-17 psi.

It really depends on what the car has done to it. While some people HAVE gone 10's with little more than a big turbo, intercooler and fuel work, it's the kind of thing that only happens in ideal conditions. My gn wasn't very fast on street boost (~15psi) but with alcohol injection I would run 22psi and it was an entirely different car without touching the timing. If he doesn't know what it runs, I doubt he could drive it to 10's even it has the capability to do so. Going from a roll is in your favor as well.

wouldnt it be in his favor hes spooled?? And 60rwhp is no match for the 150shot i will be spraying. If i already put 2 cars on him with no nitrous at 16psi what i can only imagine what 150shot will do at 16psi maybe about the same outcome. I really wasnt lookin for a win lose awnser cause i hate making up mind races i was just curious if this thing is capeable of 10s all i know is its a bran new built motor with head work and alcohol injection.
