is this even right? i've got a 97 trans am with the lt1, its only got about 63k miles. my only mod is a 3.73 rear-end. today at a car show i met a guy with a 96 trans am and he had the slp loudmouth cat-back exhaust (and i'm pretty sure he had more miles than me). i wanted to see how i would do against him so he agree to race on the way out once we got on the interstate. so... when we got there we slowed to about a 50mph roll. three beeps and i immediately start pulling on him, i started walking, and then i pretty much "jog" away. should this be expected cuz it seemed ridiculous to me?
if all he had was a loud mouth and you have 3.73's and from my guess and auto. IT soundsright. Your miles are real low too so that is always a plus. THe loudmouth isn't gonna get you that 25 h.p. SLP tells you

Seriously! And whats with all these roll race kill stories that start at arround 40mph lately? Its like no one has the ***** to drop from a dead stop anymore.
And FYI,...If he had an auto and you had a stick,...I wouldn't be surprised at all by this! Then again,...theres also the better driver sinario that everyone seems to forget about every now and then.

I understand it was on teh interstate...BUT, it was an agreed place. Why not agree to go from a stop??

2.73's are such a burden for any 4th Gen.
Especially on the already choked out LT1.
It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see 3.42's or 3.73's make a .3-.4 tenths difference on the quarter, and faster trips to your top speed.

ok, about the transmissions... we both have autos. i dropped into second gear. and we didn't go from a dig cuz he had to be heading somewhere and didn't have that much time, and also, this was at 4:00 in the afternoon.
