The turbo diesel trucks can be pretty impressive (for what they are) considering the fact that they are so heavy. MOST of the modded diesels you find on the roads are kinda like honda civics...anything lower than 14 seconds in the quarter is out of the ordinary. I'm considering buying a duramax so I can tow a nice sized camper and still get decent mileage. Also like hondas...there are probably a few on the road (with big mods) that can teach most of us a lesson.

I have seen many turbo diesel trucks run at local track and so far none have broken into the 13s and most were 15s and higher. I have raced several in my various cars and not come close to losing to one yet. I have heard about these 10 second diesels but they must have very extensive and expensive mods done to them to get them that fast.
I have seen the vids..couldn't make out the time in this vid what did the diesel run?
They are kinda cool actually and I love turbo cars as you can see in my sig.

But it takes a lot to make those big heavy things fast. Buddy has a fully done up gas 4 by 4 with 6.0 NA built up with heads,cam..etc. and he just broke 13.99 with it this year finally.

LOL, so let me get this right, the 6.0 powerstroke (325hp/570tq) with a redline of 4000rpm is going to beat the same truck using a 7.3 (235hp/500tq) with a redline of 3500. Sorry buy no. 6.0 powerstroke >> 7.3L powerstroke when stock or with equal mods. Now the early 6.0s were experiencing a LOT of headgasket issues that would typically show up by the radiator fill bottle suddenly overflowing..

There are no 300hp chips in existance for any diesel including the Duramaxx LBZ, LLY, and LB7, or for any powerstroke 7.3 or 6.0 and cummins either! (at least not to my knowledge, and we own a chevy 6.5LTD, a cummins ISB, and a 6.0 powerstroke)

the BEST tuner for a 6.0 powerstroke (whit power in mind) after the intake and exhuast would be an SCT Extreme tune and if he has that you better be paying attention cuz that truck when properly launched in 4x4 will be knocking on the door of 13's and be waaaay ahead on the launch...

The duramax's are what you have to becareful of though!! They will hand the 6.0 its **** most of the time...

If i'm not mistaking I don't think there is a 10 second diesel in existence is there?

A 7.3 diesel is slow compared to a 6.0 . My buddy has a 6.0 with the superchips tuner and the boost gauge maxes out way past 35 lbs of boost from a stop launching 4 wheel drive it destroyed a bolt on foxbody coupe bye about 4 cars with 4 people in the truck and the truck is lifted with 37" tires on it .i say 7.3 are slow cause the same guy im talking about had one of those and there a joke

There's a red dodge diesel truck in Houston, West side, near 290/1960 area, that is supposed to be putting down 1500+ ft-lbs or something insane like that. It's like 4 blocks from my sister-in-law. The truck is supposedly semi-famous, they had some nickname for it...

There are several vids of 10sec diesels. Some of them look to be streetable 4x4s. It takes a a pretty penny to get them that fast. The fastest modded diesels out are the Cummins. The are stronger without having to do internals. Stock for stock a Duramax will walk all diesels in a race. Longevity goes to Cummins.

Might want to check on that statement for accuracy. I spec and buy trucks for a living (Fleet Manager). I've driven all of 'em and researched the specs. Do you know who developed the Duramax? I think you may be surprised if you check into some of the facts.

You guys are exactly who we love to line up next to.

And to the original poster, so ignorant.

Just like my buddy with an lt1 so arrogant, it takes 1300 to put a 6.0 crew cab in the 13's. another grand safely in the 12's.

Dmax's can push over 500hp to the wheels on stock turbo and injectors.

Oct. 14-15 DHRA Nowell drags at HRP in baytown, texas.

Many 11/12 second daily drivers with a/c and all, plenty in the 10's as well. Some trucks are now in the 8's. So don't talk **** about running away from diesel trucks because the only one reason you may beat one is because we are spotting you up to 5000 lbs.

http://www.nhrda.com/Videos/FD2006-01.wmv

Green truck is a daily driver. Just an example 2000 ft/lbs of torque, disregard the E.T. the secondary turbo blew up at half track, if you listen you can hear it.

Sorry but most of the posts on hear seem like people are saying turbo diesels are a joke.

I better check my info? I did make a blanketed statement but I am quite sure that the new(06)Duramax is the fastest out of the 06 Ford, Dodge, Chevy. Several magazines have proven it and I have seen it on the street and track. If there is evidence otherwise, post up and I will eat my words.

in stock trim, yes the LBZ is faster, but add mods and anything can happen.

And yes there are LOTS of diesels in the 12s and lower...its not nearly as hard as yall think...

ps - watch out for the 4x4 launch at 20+ psi....
