the truck you raced must have beena 6.0 auto Powerstroke. line up against a 7.3 Turbo Diesel Powerstroke and i guarentee it will waste you. Horsepower is nothing in Turbodiesels, its all about the torque. check out these vids

Didnt know Edge made a module with 300hp. I have run a 100hp chipped 7.3 with my 65hp chipped Cummins and pulled easily by a couple lengths. I think your friend is telling a story about having a 300hp chip. As far as i know you would have to stack boxes to get 300hp and even so his trans would grenade without mods.

Yeah I think the biggest you can go with an EDGE is like 185 hp, 270 tq(?). And that is with a "level 6" upgrade.
Dont race a 7.3? LMAO they are the SLOW ones! Ive eaten a few of them, The 6.0 has a lot more power. BTW the truck in the vid is a 6.0.

I just checked Edges site and it says max is 115 hp and 290 tq. Of course that is on level 5, level 6 is an upgrade you can get if you are and nhrda member. That is for the 6.0 too. IDK if the 7.3 is the same.

There are some nasty trucks out there. I happen to own one which is also my tow vehicle. Some N20 or a propane kit and tune and you have a big diesel capable of embarrassing some pretty fast cars.

The thing with diesels is that they basicly use detonation as their ignition system. Granted the glow plug is there, but basicly they just pressurize the mix in the cylinder sooo much it spontaneously explodes with a tiny nudge.
Then consider what the biggest enemy of a turbo gas engine is. Detonation. Which is the main reason you cant just go running any boost/airflow level you want. With out enough fuel or too much heat you detonate.
So diesels can run insane boost. Its actually pretty amazing how awesome some of those turbos are on there. Think about it, a stock 7.3L engine that can run boost that makes an Evo jealous. You need a huge turbo to make that kind of flow. A lot of the new turbos for DSMs these days are based on Borg Warner and Holsets turbos from trucks. These things spin up faster than most "big" gas originiated turbos and flow like 50lbs of air per minute, which makes a 20G look kinda weak. So right there with that kind of displacement and turbo out of the box, you have some huge potential.
Unfortunately diesels dont do so good at higher revs. Thats why their HP is pretty irrelevant. They spend almost no time over 5250. So while they might make torque that makes some big blocks blush, they are not as fast as a gas engine will be in most cases with even similar torque. They dont get to use aggressive gearing very much at all in a drag type situation.
