Default 02 SS vs. M Roadster

So i was on my way home from my girlfriends lsat night just cruising along at about 70ish when i see bright *** blue HIDs coming up on me fast... so i figure a nice little import maybe they will be game. Well it gets up next to me and is a silver M roadster. Didnt sound too mean and didnt look like it was modified so anyways i downshift 6-5 and i hear him downshift so i go again from 5-4 and look over and he kinda nods at me and downshifts again so i wait a few more seconds powershift it up into 3rd and just jump out instantly a car, he starts to pull back a bit then i start pulling into 4th and then he sorta stops my pull at about 1 1/2 cars then i shift into fifth and start pulling slowly to about 2 cars at about 125-130

cool guy gave me a thumbs up as he got off at his exit

over all good race i expected a little more though...

You should've definitely pulled more and he should've never stopped your pull. He must of had a chip and intake or something of that sort.

The new M roadster's run on average low 13's at ~108mph - decent competition for a stock or near stock LS1, good kill! Nice to hear the guy was cool about it too.

Where exactly are you pulling these numbers from? Hard tops run mid to low 13's at 104-106, roadsters are more of a low 14 to high 13 second cars. SS in this thread should be well into 12's...

From time slips posted on BMW forums. Just as GM and Ford are seen as arch rivals, so are MB and BMW - I like to keep a check on what the competition is running.

Mind linking me? I've checked on dragtimes.com and best out of stock M3 coupes were low 13's at 108. Average mid 13's and roadsters are always .3-.5 seconds slower.

Check out bimmerforums.com or z4um.com - not a lot of 'em into drags, but there've been a few post their times there. The new vert is ~3200lbs (the coupe is actually heavier, by a little, than the 'vert - one of the odd facts that stuck in my head from roadster shopping a couple months back). Couple that with 330hp and a low 13 second time is more than believable. Even Car and Driver managed a low 13 if memory serves me correct...but I'm old and it's not what it used to be *L*.

i think that race is totally beleivable those M roadsters are definatly performers. i actually really like them alot and i beleive they actually run one tenth slower then the verts or maybe its the other way around.
