around here theres a black unmarked charger that floats around and tries to get people to race. Everyweek he sits in the dark on the street leaving the thursday night meets trying to catch people tearin *** out of the lot. Pretty much everyone knows about him know and its only been around a month or two so I dont know what he catches besides ricers. Oh well.

I got personally owned by one at Firebird. Ran a 13.1. The thing cut a 1.8 60 on what sure looked like stock rubber. I like the SRT cars.

But it is a shame that all the SRT8 cars are so heavy. Anyone remember the Firepower concept awhile back? It was like a mini-Viper. Hemi engine in a front engine chassis, basic car for like 50K.

I hung with a srt8 charger going down the highway but he was pulling me slightly but i have 4.10's and a moded 305. The car to watch out for that's a 4 door is the CTS-V!
Just think about it, no one would like to get their doors blowed off by a 4 door Caddy.
Thoes thing's out run GTO's and Srt8 chargers.

From what I've seen/heard, CTS-V and a Charger SRT-8 are almost exactly the same spee

I got a light with a guy probably in his mid to late 50s with a new 06 cts v. I revved and he didn't even look over, so I just figured he didn't wanna race. Light turned green and he launced it hard, so I was not ready but I took off anyway with him probably 3-4 cars already ahead of me, and I could not catch him (no headers at this time btw) but he wasn't pulling away once I got going. They're definitely fast cars, and if you see an older guy in one don't hestitate lol.

The CTS-V and SRT-8's usually run within a tenth of each other, but the Caddy usually has a better trap speed.

I would have to disagree and add that a lot more SRT-8s have run 12s stock than CTS-Vs (if any).

NO!!
Every SRT8 i have seen or herd has ran Like 13'5-13'4
Even the book's show CTS-V's running 13.0.
It only has 25 horses less than the Charger and it is lighter.
I dont Chargers running 12's stock. Got to have some work like intakes and exhaust and some other goodies. Hell Stock ls1's run around 13'2 stock on a set of radials 12'8 on some slicks, and we are only talking about 310 rear wheel horsepower. So you tell me whos faster?

Remember when the goat first came out with the 6.0 motor and the CTS-V still had a 5.7. Motor trend did a test with the goat the caddy and Srt8 300C
The 300C ran 13.4 the goat went 13.3 and the V went 13.1 remember the goat weigh's more than the V.

No sir. Surf on the 300Cforums, SRT-8 section and Chargerforums as well. LX Forums in the Time Slip section. Many have run 12s, bone stock. I ran 13.3 stock on a bad night. And most acknowledge a stock SRT-8 will slightly edge a stock LS1.

Low 13s is the standard for the SRT-8 @ 108-110mph.

Yeah man... you can't just go by magazine times. Real life>magazines. But since you brought it up, I remember seeing one magazine test of an SRT-8 (forget which one), and it ran a 13.1.

This is way off the subject but I used to own an 85 Camaro(just a 2 door sport coupe with a 305ci. and A4). I just sold it last month, but seeing your 86 camaro(305 H.O.)^ made me think of what I was going to do to it. Everyone was like don't waste your money on the 305 rebuild .I wanted to prove everyone wrong and build it up a little and run it, but money ran short and the Transmission in the Bird needs to be fixed so I gave in and sold it. I just recently read an article in a mag. when I was shopping in Pubix, that does engine buiding(sorry can't remember the name) and they took a stock 305ci. engine from a camaro 3rd gen and did almost the same heads cam and carb swap that I was looking to do. They produced a bit more power then I was thinking and proved that the little Engine could give you a run for your money. I believe they produced 370Hp and 3## TQ. which is very awesome considering they come with 160Hp and 235TQ. Other then all that, Srt-8 Chargers are basically as fast or faster then a stock Ls1 from what I am learning. Sorry for the huge post .

I got some head work done a nice small cam 226@50 447lift a set of flat top pistons and a 4.10 gear ratio. My stall broke right after i built that motor so my 60ft time dropped to like 2.15, on the stock motor i was cutting 2.006 every time with just a stock 305. I am taking the heads to get shaved right now so i can get a little more power out of the motor. I have out ran SS Impalas Lt1 T/A's Camaro's I make stock 3rd gens look like they have 2.8 6cyl's in them. 5.0 mustangs even out ran a couple of S10's with built 350's in them. People say you cant get any power out of these 305's but i make them a believer. Dont have dyno numbers yet but i will get it dynoed when the motor goes back together. PS. 700r4's suck but i have to run them cause of my 4.10's

If you're talking about the LT1 Impalas, those were high 14s cars on a good day...

Thats cool 305 H.O. I just wish I could do it to mine, but it's gone now. One day I shall get another one, they are very easy to find and they don't cost a lot to make faster, be it fixing up the original engine or doing a motor swap. They are also farly light cars, mine weighed 3,165 pounds with me in it ( I did some weight reduction though).

Irunelevens, You might think that is slow but compared to what 3rd gens usually run stock (16s sometimes 15.99999 ) that is pretty fast.
