Default Kill story???

Some people just don't know when NOT to race....you know, like when there are other cars around. Maybe we ought to raise the driving age to 18...or put fingerprint recognition ignition systems...or breathalyzer ignition locks...This **** is getting out of hand.

This is why police impound cars!!

One teen dead after Houston street racing accident

Copyright 2006 Houston Chronicle

A 15-year-old girl was killed Sunday night during an alleged street racing accident in northwest Harris County, according to televised news reports this morning.

Witnesses told police that the driver of a Jetta, in which the girl was a passenger, was racing with another vehicle on W. Little York near Eldridge around 11 p.m when it swerved around slower traffic and slammed into a tree.

The girl died at the scene while two other passengers riding in the back were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital via LifeFlight.

The driver of the Jetta was an unlicensed 15-year-old male, who suffered only minor injuries, police said.

No word if the driver will been charged in the accident. The other car involved in the race did not stop.

It really doesn't matter what kind of car it is...

Look at 75% of the videos posted in this section - they change lanes at over 130 to avoid traffic, they end races to avoid traffic - they key word here is traffic.

I watched a video last night where cars (Cobra, Mercedes and a Vette) were racing, but I don't recall seeing a single car on that road - it was 100% empty if I remember right. So those guys didn't have to swerve to avoid traffic or slam on the brakes. But even those guys have a good shot at killing themselves or someone else - all it takes is a tire problem, a driver screwup, whatever.

Like I said, this is why they take cars away.

I agree. The track is the only safe place for me. Simply because I like having my life, car, license, and job.

I'm tired of seeing you track racing crusaders posting about how much better it is to race on the track than on the street. 9 times out of 10 everybody agrees with you here, but you aren't stopping anyone from street racing. Get over it, or GTFO.

Anyway, this is what happens when you take an inherently dangerous activity to occupied public streets. We need to do away with the F&F movies and NFSU games.

Yep.

Im not going to hate on people who take OK precations, but I still maintain the only way to have a decent safety factor on the street is out in the boonies with flaggers on both ends. Half of us have cameras, short range radios are as cheap if not more so.

That and the fact that VW markets to dipsh!ts who think that anything German is the pinacle of automotive glory and that their Dads 318Ti is the shizzle yo.

my new rule of thumb no turnes and no traffic and no other people in the car. I NEVER EVER EVER will race any one with some one else in the car. Its forceing that person to take a risk they dont have controle over. And if im winning i shut it down i dont go flying around and feel the need to put 100 cars on them

fixed. the driver isn't even old enough to have a license..I'd say that's the parent's fault.
