I read somewhere, don't know how true this is, that Ford called it the "Terminator" because they had so much problems with earlier SVT cars blowing up (engines) so they made this new engine with some stronger internal stuff so it would hold up to some major forced induction. Therefore this new engine would "terminate" any problems potential speed enthusiast would have.
Again, I can't remember were I read this at, so I have no idea how true it is. But it sounds good riiiiiiiiiiiight?

I've gotten to taking it out every weekend now for the past month after working out some minor bugs, but all and all it's running fairly well, not tuned to perfection yet, but not too shabby I guess.
Anyways, I'm out and about running around the Ft. Myers area of SW Fla doing a little datalogging when I was spotted by a fella I'd run into some time before. I ended up hanging around wih him and some freidns since they know the area, and aended up at some Home Depot in the middle of BFE along with a few Mustangs, Civic, rice, the usual. Night was drawing to and end for me but I decided to be bold enough to try out a yellow '04 Cobra that had been hanging around. I couldn't get a straight answer as to it's mods, something along the lines of an intake, exahusta and lower pulley. Long story short (too late!), we ended up trying it out from a 40-roll.
Although we nailed it door to door, I did take a pretty solid lead on the hit getting maybe half a car off the bat, throw 3rd and I keep him hanging around my quarter panel, blower screaming in my ear all the merry way. Toss 4th and it was only maybe 3-4 seconds before he finally let off hanging around 1 car back and that was it. Not too impressive a kill I know, but after over a year of driving a 100hp Civic, I'll take a kill on a scooter for a quick fix
Anyways, more fun to come with a few new toys and a final tune on the horizon.

Good run and kill on a fast Ford.

Here's the video of the '03 Cobra being Reviewed by Car and Driver, John Colleti, the head of SVT, is interviewd and uses the "terminator" name to imply that it terminates all discussion about which pony car is supreme.
Good vid regardless if you're a Ford or Chevy guy

Wikipedia also agrees with one of the claims I made earlier, although any one of the reasons sound legitimate.

Owners are reporting as much as 750 hp (559 kW) at the rear wheels with the use of a 2.3L Whipple or 2.2L/2.4L Kenne Bell supercharger and increased boost pressure. Even with minor "bolt-on" mods, Terminator Cobras have been known to exceed 500 hp (373 kW).

I thought the Cobra was competition for the Corvette?
I mean the freakin' Cobra costs like what 10k more than a base Z28 (base is sorta heavily optioned on a Z28).
I mean the SS was WAY overpriced, and the SC one was like 15k more wasn't it? 37k for a car with a hood (the 35th vert's).
I mean the base Z28 had almost all the options it really needed to still be called a loaded car (unlike a freakin' neon or cavalier). Hell Celica's don't even come with ABS if I remember).
I mean a terminator come on??? The regular Cobra was already pretty much a contender/match. Plus its engine was tougher than a LS1 build wise.

Nice kill!
Very vivid imagination!!! It was not the highest HP Mustang of all time though...
