E55 AMG vs. Me What do you guys think? Mods are in my sig. He is bone stock and a big pot of cash is already starting to form. This race will be from a dig to 140. Just want some info on these cars. I see that they are rated at 469 Horsepower and 512 ft/lbs torque but cant find anything on their actual performance on the track. This is not a what "would happen thread" but more of a "wanting info thread" I will not be using the shot...I will run all motor.

What H/C are you running? Since you have Kooks and a 90/90 one would assume you have a good-sized cam (if you had a 224 cam I'd say you'd be losing money 
).
If it's a decent power-making H/C package, you should edge him out.
If it's on the street, you will edge him out barely.
The E55 has an EXCELLENT stability/traction-control system which allows it to achieve a perfect street-launch
Make sure you get a good launch; the weight discrepancy will be far less a factor at 140 mph. So if you're ahead in the 1/4, he could start to reel you in up top.

You can see in each race that the E55 got the Cobra on the launch and the Cobra would start to reel in the E55 only at the end of the 1/4.
The AMG traction system's advantage is further exacerbated by the fact that it's racing a Manual transmission car; not to mention the fact of how difficult it is for most people to launch an '03 Cobra on the street
(not only did the Cobra lose on the launch, he couldn't get traction)I've had the pleasure of racing many, MANY examples of the following AMG supercharged/twin-turbocharged cars:

SL55
SL65
CL65
even an SL600 and an S600; which was a turd.
The 65 cars are just plain NASTY
If you're racing one from a dig on the street, you better get a PERFECT launch.

so I should spray and get it over with then...my car trapped a best of 12.00 (n/a) in the 1/4 but we are taking it up to 140...big difference...maybe I should ask him to run to 160 because his car is governed at 155...lol. But thats cheating and unfair...lol

do whatever you have to to hand him his ***. dont let some rich yuppie show up an LS1. let him know that a car with bolt ons/nos can still whup something 5 times as expensive. spray and let him pay.
i would have that nitrous pressure up and the switch ready to go just incase you do hafto use it...but i would only do that if theres money on the line...
as far as those videos..did you see in the rematch videos of the burnt rubber stripes that cobra layed down both those races....he needs drag radials and he woulda beat that e55 as for he was catching him fast once he hooked up

With my brothers m6 car(g5x4, 4.10's, full exhaust and full bolt ons, 425rwhp 372rwtq) I put a HURTING on an E55 from a dig and from a 30roll. You will WALK THE **** out of that E55. Brothers car went 12.3 @ 120mph cam only with a 2.0 '60
Thats one car i would like to run as well, but seems we only cross paths. I think it will be a good race for you if you go all motor. If you do decide to spray it wont be much of a race. Those cars sure do move out though. Good luck and let us know the turnout.

Dont underestimate the E55AMG for a second....
ive got a bone stock gen 2 Viper...
On paper a gen 2 viper runs any were from 11.7-12.3 ay 116-121 mph...Heres a list of some BONE STOCK on stock tire gen 2 viper times..

well my vipers bone stock and my buddies E55AMG is bone stock...
weve went at it a few times and it is VERY EVEN from 70-140 mph...
Dont get me wrong the viper is faster....But the auto in the E55AMG is very hard to match in a stick car...
id have to drive PERFECTLY in order to take him out...While his auto drives perfectly every single time....A low to mid 12 second automatic anything can never be taken lightly

It's actually a 100 over 100 shot...total 200 shot overall
In the cobra's defense he wasn't getting traction and when he wasn't just flat out sliding he was getting wheel hop. It runs much stronger now. Should be a good race you on motor. If you spray it's over.

The guy just bought the car and has never been in anything faster than a SUV. So this is his first time in such a powerful car. The race will be set to happen in the next couple of days and there will be multiple camera's there to film. 500 dollars is already on the line. Hopefully he doesn't back out because he's not returning phone calls....strange?
I want to get this on video...it would be a strong testament to the almost 10 year old technology of the LS1 motor...
