Okay now I havn't read this entire 3 page story now, but I have gone over page one. I have driven a freaky 305 3rd gen and let me tell you, its something I know I didn't believe. Only mods appeared to be headers, and a banged up catback. We did put a 4th gen rear on it with unknown gear ratio. But that car would eat the LT1s that run around this part of town. It was never taken to the track, sold it to some mexicans and I have no idea where it is now. So I can say that it is possible that 305 302eater's pulled that LT1 and as much as people doubt it I've done the same with a 305 as well.

"Appeared" is the key word. If something looks too good to be true then it probably is. A or B is still the answer.

Well I don't believe that we had a fully built 305 by any means. Even if we did it'd sound a good bit different than a 305 with full exhaust. This car sounded exactly like a 305 with a full exhaust, it performed like a beast though. I don't know what to tell you. I do know that we didn't do a damn thing to it other than throw the 4th gen rear in it. So I don't understand whats up your *** darrensls1. Give the ******* car some credit for pulling the LT1.

Them being lighter might be the whole stem of this myth. Not nearly the technological level of an ls1 suspension, just less weight and more balanced.Ls1s are noticeably bulkier. 305 302 Eater has a complete iroc suspension, a rarer optioned one with wonderbar and all, and the car is amazingly tight and firm, but I have never driven an ls1 with the ws6, so someone please give their opinion.
i own a '87 TPI, 305, 5spd Formula and a '97 6spd T/A. both of them are non WS6 but the '97 has been lowered. i have more fun in the '87 and it feels better because i can feel the road with it. i love the non airbag steering wheel and non abs brakes. the clutch feels better as well. i have put both through their paces and the '87 just feel more like a drivers car. i think that the LT1's steering and brake feed back is just too numb and the "fly by wire" throttle controls just plain sucks. overall, the 4th gen out accelerates (by a full 1.0 in the 1/4), and out corners the 3rd gen, though the lower stance and larger 275/40r17 compared to the 245/50r16 plays a big part in that. but you just can't feel it by the seat of the pants.

LT1's trap 98-100 on average in stock trim. The TBI's trap about what stock? 88? 89? Bolt-ons do not add 10 mph to thier trap speed. There is nothing up my ***. But I do wonder how a TBI pulls an extra 10 MPH in trap speed out of thiers.

A or B.

Anyone in the peninsula area of Washington State willing to "rape" this 305 should PM me or 305 302eater. I will videotape it.

Anyone?

I give the driver credit but not the car. Not until I see a 1320' slip or dyno plot.

I've owned three 305's Two 84's with a rochester quadrajet and my 86 with TPI. Out of all those and all the mods I did on them (believe me it was a lot) none of them were worth crap. I'm not the only one saying this. Facts are facts. They just aren't fast and respond ok at best to mods.

My IROC will smoke an LT1, but thats only after I drop the LS1 in it.

And I would love to film it. No matter what the outcome, 302eater never backs down from a cool race, thats why riding shotgun is so much damn fun.

Wish you guys were closer.

That because all the third gens you owned were bad years to own for performance. You have to go at least 87 up... I would say 89 up for the serpintiene system.

While I agree 86 was the WORST year for the IROC I had a ton of mods to my car. Everything from headers to cams to even some head work on my 84. In the end the only one that put down any power was my 84 with a 100 shot and that blew the motor about 6 months after install.

I'm not knocking your car. No doubt I love the 3rd gens or I wouldn't have gotten 3 of them. But after all the money I sank into them I just never got the kind of performance out of them that you car is claiming to have.

Like I said, most people are talking against you because we've owned 3rd gens before 'upgrading'. I've owned 2 myself, one being an 88 305, and is worlds apart from my LT1. And on top of that I now have spray

It's freaky not freeky. And freaky is a car that dynos 270 when the average is 255. Or freaky is a car that runs high 12's when most others run a very low 13. But freaky is not a car that traps high 80's to low 90's yet beats cars that trap 99+ on a regular basis. It takes at least an extra 70 rwhp (which is unaccounted for) to accomplish that feat.

That is beyond freaky. That jumps straight into the realm of "Ripleys believe it or not"
