put it this way.... the reason he didnt make it to the track... his car got repoed the night before.

im sure a new mustang with almost no interior, no cowl cover, no wiper motor, slicks/skinnies, ect.... fucked him when it went for auction after the repo.

Either way it'll tell the story. A or B
So what your saying is all lt1's trap triple digits.

I dunno. My best trap is 105mph with intake, exhaust, and 3.73s. I'm not sure if the bad O2s hurt me at all though

They all trap right around triple digits. 97-101 is normal for stock cars. Adding just the most basic of bolt-ons (cai and exhaust) should put them all slightly over 100 MPH.

But since the car you raced had exhaust then he should be in the low 100's for a trap speed. In order to pull that from a roll with a TBI you would need one of four things to happen:

1) You out power the car and thus your trap speed would be in the triple digits.

2). You beat a bad stick shift driver.

3). You beat a LT1 that is down on power due to mechanical issues or a bad tune.

4). You happened to catch an automatic in his dead spot.

So lets see which ones are likely.

By saying it was really loud (and later you refer to loudmouth) we can say this LT1 was modded. CAI, Catback and maybe even LT's. So the bar is set a little higher for you because this guy was not stock.

You also said this:

Now because he chose to accelerated to 50 before going WOT we can eliminate catching an automatic in a dead spot. Lets just chuck #4 out the window.

By making this statement you are insinuating that you have beaten multiple LT1's. I'm thinking three or more. That makes the idea of multiple mechanical issues on multiple vehicles a little difficult to believe. Lets chuck #3 out the window as well.

And you said this:

The race started at 50, the LT1 went first and the race ended at 80-90 mph. I believe there would only be one shift in there and that would be towards the very end of the race where you were all ready ahead. I would say we can chuck #2 out the window as well.

So that leaves #1. Think about this a second. Lets say this bolt-on LT1 traps 101. He gets the jump and in a brief sprint from 50-80 or 90 you managed to reel him in and put 1.5 cars on him. I'm thinking you trapping 102 would not pull that much ground in that short of time. I would honestly think 105+ out of your car would be needed to even make this possible.

105+ from a TBI with bolt-ons? I am having a VERY hard time seeing that since they trap 89 or so in stock trim. That's an extra 16 MPH in trap speed or what would be the equivilent to about an extra 150 rwhp from bolt-ons and "factory freak" just to get to a 105 trap speed. Not possible.

See why so many have a hard time believing this once the facts are broken down?

Yeah, I'm just hoping for something below a 13.7 or so... my car is in the shop right now getting a tranny rebuild/clutch change, so it'll be nice and broken in by next weekend

I still don't see how you can claim the cars i have raced the can trap that in a quarter. Like you said maybe it is out of tune. Maybe all the lt1s i've raced were out of tune. But i can tell you that there is no way i can trap 105 in my car. If i do get 100 up i will cream in my pants. Probably more than once.

I've never seen an LT1 trap less then 97 in my neck of the woods. And lets be honest here. Most LT1's are inexpensive which makes mod money easier to come by. And most people willing to street race are also mod bug victoms. I'm thinking finding a bone stock LT1 with a driver willing to race is like finding a needle in a haystack. So in most cases you can add a few MPH to thier stock trap speed just as we can add a few to yours.

But even if it was bone stock and trapped 97 you would need to be into triple digits yourself in order to pull him the way you did. I'm not saying that races outcome can never happen. I am saying that bolt-ons + "factory freak" is not going to be the reason it does. It would take either more mods on your part or some form of problem (driver or mechanical) on his.

I kind of hope you do trap 100+. The idea of you needing to change your shorts after one run makes me chuckle

Good luck at the track and stay safe out on the street.

Yeah, because they made so very few lt1s, that everyone took the best care of each one.

This thread is going in circles.

Ya i raced a v6. Sure guys, cause i don't know the difference. Give me a break... you guys are acting like lt1's are the fastest thing out there. And my car is the slowest thing out there... After this thread, I'm not sure if i will post when i beat a ls1. And the day will come for that this summer. But i won't post without at least a vid. Lets hear the **** talking start now.

I wouldn't be too worried. The track ends after a quarter of a mile has been realized, and in your case, you'd more than likely need at least an entire mile to even hit one hundred...
