new wrx vs SS I work at pepboys and i have a 2000 ss camaro 6 speed and this guy just got a 2007 subaru wrx and he thinks he can beat me so i made a wager when it gets nicer out side that i will run him for a $100 dollars and he said yea we are both stock and stick. any ideas?
Well if it's just a wrx and not an sti, I'd think you should be able to take him as long as you don't completely roast the tires at the start. Those are only 225hp so he'll get a good jump at the start because of the AWD but you should be able to come back by the top of second gear. I'm not really sure what the brand new one's run but the 2005's are only said to run 14.6 in the 1/4 stock.
If it's just the WRX, you should take him with not much trouble. You have quite a bit of HP on him. If it's the STI, then it's a driver's race. He'll probably get you out of the hole, unless you are really good at launching.

Unless its high altatude on bad roads I predict you win. Even then I would bet on you. Use this 100 to get a lid.
Drive your race, not his. Dont spin to the moon on launch, just chirp them a bit and use the long gearing and power. Dont do a really short race. And turn off the TC

Ive seen bone stock 06 WRX's here go 13.7 to 14.0, you should pull him pretty hard. Oh and make sure he is 100% STOCK because he could be hiding a few things and easily be into the 12s. BTW I love Fbodys but a stock 06 STi would rape a stock SS, seen it happen a million times, especially if the STi driver knows how to launch.

A STI wont rape a stock LS1, it would have a hard time beating it period. The only time it would be ahead is the launch but the SS would pull it up top.

i actaulyl have the same thing coming up, a junior at my high school bought a new WRX "TR" edition and thinks its gods gift to street racing, i asked him what the tr are stood for and he didnt know but he knew it was abnout 100lbs lighter than a stock one... i gotta get some money out of this kid
