Smoked a Honduh VTX1800 talkin smack
Went to a BBQ bar the other night with my friend who cruises in a VTX 1300? There was a whole gaggle of bikers there. So my friend starts talking about my car to a guy with an VTX1800, the guy starts with the smack talk. Aint no car beatin my bike bla bla bla. So I say lets run em. He's all gung-ho to teach this whipper-snapper a lesson. He makes a right onto the main street, I am behind him, his buddy in a Harley whateveritwas behind me. He turns, hammers it, I turn, hammer it and in the blink of an eye I had to slam my brakes to not run him over. I ran him down like a cheetah runs down a 3 leg gazelle. The harley disappeared behind us. We get off on the 2 lane 441 merge at 15-20mph and hammer it again. I put bus lengths on him. I thought those things would have something resembling *****, I guess I was wrong. He didn't head back to the BBQ bar unfortunately, woulda liked to run my mouth to his tatooed friends.

The guy was definitely in the "rich guy biker who don't know ****" group. I beat my neighbors gixxer 600, I knew I'd roast him, but didn't know by that much. The guys at the BBQ place just asked who won, I said me by a mile and they giggled. They knew what the outcome would be, so most of them there were real bikers.

Go Trick Flow man. I know exactly what would need to be done to break 500rwhp. Lets just say I didn't do those things because these heads are supposed to go on my other car when I build the small cube blower motor. If that does not happen, I will make these changes to bump 500rwhp easy. I will not say the changes because ECS and Vengeance asked me to keep hush hush. If I wasn't one of the Guinea pigs and knew what these heads could have made I would have gone for the ***** out package. But ECS and Vengeance hadn't really made public what they had accomplished.

The Goldwing is an opposing 6 cylinder boxer making in the neighborhood of 118 HP (if I' not mistaken) and is fairly quick for what it is. I have a VTX1300 and the OP's car would destroy it.
Either way you look at it, a vtx is a large cruiser, in my opinion, something that very much resembles the platform the goldwing is built on. I stand corrected.

No problem, rough afternoon for me yesterday. It is a large cruiser for sure, kinda cool in a retro way. The only thing that bugs me about it is when I get frisky in the corners and start dragging **** on the pavement.

I like all those hard core american bikers that ride Japanese bikes. lol I'm not sayin some of em aren't cool...but I know some people that won't drive anything but a GM, Ford, or Dodge but when it comes to bikes they flock to foreign like kids to cupcakes.

No worries.
As for the hardcore american iron guys buying honda vs harley there are a lot of reasons to go import. The Japanese bikes, are, on the average, a lot cheaper than a Harley. Maintenance and reliability are of course Honda's namesake. Now don't get me wrong, I love my harleys. My dad has a fuel injected Pan Head Chopper with 100 rwhp, but even he knows the high points of just being able to hop on your vtx and ride.

We VTX guys love hearing that "American Made" argument. The VTX is built in Ohio and has a higher percentage of parts "Made In America" than Harley's do, 85% to 60%. Many of the Harley parts are made in Mexico and Korea. Sure the $$$ from Honda sales go to Nippon but when it got right down to nut cuttin' time, I couldn't justify spending 20K+ for a name when I could get my faster, more dependable cruiser for 10K out the friggin' door. Don't get me wrong, I really like Harley's and their build quality is real close to the Jap bikes the last couple of years. Where Harley Davidson excells is in the marketing of their product as a "Lifestyle". Nobody is better than HD at that.

I picked up my 07 night train while I was in Iraq for $16,500 delivered to the dealership of my choice. It was well worth the money and the fight. My little 96" & 6-speed get me down the road pretty well if youask me. 100mph on a cruiser is 100mph whether you can get there a second faster or not. I've taken mine to about 125 and that was fast enough for me.

Funny how quick ya get to 100 without meaning to on a big cruiser. Must be my youth trying to bust out. Now the Cobra..., I'd hit 130 on the entrance ramp every single day just because I could. The Brute? Nah, I take it easy in that one unless it's race time. Speaking of Harleys, a friend of mine, who's gotta have 40K in his bike, just had the Harley Racing 116" Screaming Eagle motor put on his '01 Cop bike. I haven't seen it run yet but I'm certain he'll kick my *** this time. That motor cost him over 10K because they only sell it in parts, no complete motors.
