I think they are nice looking cars. Even if they had only 100hp that still wouldn't change the fact that they look amazing. Just take a look at how exotic they are!

i don't understand. how are the NSXs so quick if they're only rated at 290HP and 240TQ and 3100lbs? i know they're mid engine and RWD, but 12 sec 1/4mi seems quick to me with that kind of power and weight. i'm not putting them down or anything, but i'm just confused as heck! anyone care to enlighten me?

I hear alot of NSX's are lost to engine fires i believe. Maybe something else caught on fire. Either way alot of them are totalled out due to a vehicular fire.

An NSX dose not weigh as much as a C5.

A 1997 C5 COUPE WEIGHS 3280 POUNDS
a 1997 NSX weighs 3120 pounds

It is 150 pounds lighter than a C5 and equal in weight to a C5z06

A 1997 C5 will dyno 300 rwhp
A 1997 NSX will dyno 260 rwhp

So a 40 rwhp advantage for the C5

BUT..and this parts very important...

The C5 has 3.42 gearing and redlines at 6000 rpm's
The NSX has 4.06 gearing and redlines at 9000 rpm's

The gearing and redline is why the NSX can pull a C5 * on the freeway*

Imagine if you raised the redline on a c5 to 9000 rpm's reliably making power and through out your 3.42's in favor of 4.06's.

HOW MUCH FASTER WOULD IT BE ON THE FREEWAY????

I chose my viper over the NSX and will probally never choose to own one. But from my persoanl experiences with my modded c5 and stock at the time viper. they are much faster than most of us think..

As to Fadi....Dude seriously. Your in a c6Z06 that trapped 126 mph bone stock. My bone stock 410 rwhp gen 2 viper would feel slow to you after driving that monster..Maybe with your skills at your track you could have trapped 119 mph in my viper when stock. that would be SEVEN mph slower than your C6Z06 and feel slow as hell.

So of course the NSX felt slow to you. But to an stock LS1 guy i think they dont realize how quick they really are and just dismiss them

yes i can agree with that!

i know this one guy that goes to school with me that owns an nsx.

i dont like the fact that he thinks its the greatest car ever.

hes a real douche about it.

i was having a conversation with him about getting a c5 vette.

then he said:

lets go to the dealer and ill trade in my car and get 5 corvettes

and dont forget vettes parts are exchangeable with the chevy cavalier parts.

i was like jeez what and farking jerk.

and its true the nsx is for someone who wanted an exotic car but could not afford one.

his always bad mouthing the quality of ferrari's

for the price its not a great car.

he wants to turbo his car.
lets see how it goes
hehe

over all the nsx is an eye catcher to some people.

Yeah, the new Z06 had an issue with that too, lol. The car isn't a bad car, it was worth the price in the EARLY 90's when it came out and from there it stagnated and became a bad deal.

EDIT: 260whp and 3100# vs. 300whp and 3450# is a wash. Then count in the NSX's gearing and redline and you can see why they trap 105-110 and LS1 F-bods do 103-106.

NSX is a great car...but not for the money NOW. Back in the day I think it was worth it.

The comment about the NSX being a car for someone who wanted an exotic but couldnt afford one is pretty lame..

My friend paid 82 grand for a 2005 NSX with 250 miles on it back in 2006..

82 grand...Thats Mnoble money/Viper money...

An NSX//Viper/noble are exotics...yes 80-100K exotics depending on options but never the less exotics..

When you start talking about 250 grand and up lambo's ferrari's saleens and so fourth..your talking about super cars. not exotics.

Lets just be completely honest here....An new NSX cost 90 grand...The average person making 30-50 grand a year will have a hard time financing a 50 grand car..

30 grand a year is about 2 grand after taxes. 50 grand a year is about 3 grand after taxes.

50 grand for a 5 year loan at 8% interest is around 1 grand per month...Plus gas and insurance your looking at 1,400 a month for a 50 grand automobile..So at 30 grand a year you'd have 600 left over a month for your residence and food. At 50 grand a year you'd have 1,600 left over per month for your residence and food.

So if your the average person making 30-50 grand a year it's not easy justifying a 50 grand sports car...

Now try a 90 K sports car. my buddy pays 1,800 a month for his 2005 NSX that he bought for 82K since it was *used* with 250 miles on it..

add insurance and gas and he's at 2,400 a month just for his sports car..

So your average person making 30-50 grand cant afford an NSX.

So when someone says that people buy NSX's cause they couldnt afford a real exotic..well i find that pretty lame. they just bought a car that hardly anyone can afford...not the other way around...

Their were 100K Fbody's made per year because the average person can afford a 25-35K vehicle..

their are 30K Vettes made a year because the high average $to above average $ person can afford a Vette.

their are 2K Vipers and 2K NSX's made a year because only the above average$ people can afford them....

That comment is like saying that all fbody guys got a camaro because they couldnt afford a vette. They bought it cause Fbody's are bada$$. same holds true for the NSX

Killemal, I understand that the NSX is no match in comparison to my Z06 in speed, but really, when I drove the car the steering really was sloppy. The steering was almost identical to my C5 Z06, in other words, SLOPPY. With my previous Viper and now the C6 Z06, when I trun the steering wheel, the car actually turns everybit as the wheel, but not even close in the NSX.

I just can't see a justification for its price tag. You would think for 90K you would get a COMPLETE package from killer looks, to 120 traps, to great handling, etc. The NSX doesn't do any of the above in a mouth droppin manner and hence, I don't think the price tag on that car is any where near justifiable. I think many would agree with me, except for NSX owners themselves..

Ok, well then by your logic, he can afford an nsx, but not a lambo, ferrari, 911turbo, etc. He couldn't afford the aformentioned cars, so he bought an NSX, glad to see you agree with us.

I can buy a 996 Turbo for alot less than $92k dollars, and lets face it $92k is enough to buy a complete paint like glass, built LSx Ultima GTR a car that will kill most of our Vettes on the drag strip and lap Porsche GT3's on a road course. 640 flywheel gets you in the 9's with an Ultima GTR. The NSX was never about all out performance. Its MO was the user friendly Supercar that is reliable and you don't have to pay a mint to service it. Basically a supercar with Honda traits. Unfortunately for them GM brought out the C5 a beautiful pure bred sports car that can be serviced at your local Chevy dealer, you can drive everyday and that performs on a level with cars twice its cost. Also Porsche has a reputation for daily driveability and bulletproof drivetrains albeit with high service costs.

We're discussing stock cars here. Once mods get thrown in theres no arguement because it can go either way.

I ran across them a few times in my old LS1 Bolt-on/cam only Camaro. I slaughtered them each time.
