98z (cammed) vs 04 Cobra (pullied)
Well, before i spun a bearing i went to the track and raced against my friends 04 cobra. He just finished getting the SLP package for his cobra. He put everything in the package accept the headers. Me, i just finished installing my tr224/224 and Pacesetter LT's and i never had a chance to tune it right. Well, our mods as follows:
98z- Slp lid/MAF,Pacesetter LT's,224/224 (untuned),True Duals, 3200 stall.
04 cobra- intake,x-pipe,slp exhuast,SLP MAF,pullied,tuned
results:
98z28ls1-12.4@108 1.71 60ft (banging off the rev limiter/long shifts)
04Cobra-12.4@115 1.96 60ft (people say he cant drive)
We are going to race again!! This time we got more mods.... who do you think will win?
98z new mods- ls6 manifold,New Era Ported TB,3800 stall, Hp Tuners!!! I also have a zex wet kit (but i wont use it against him)

as long as he hooks up, those 4.56 gears should help to greatly improve on his 60ft time, plus the FI cars will respond better to mods than the NA cars so even though you installed more mods than he did its prob still a wash, from the results of the first race it seems it would be a drivers race again, but equal drivers and i would say the cobra would win every time.....but only one way to find out!

Make sure you know first aid for being bit by a venmous snake.....looks like a N20 bottle...
And your freind kinda got ripped off by that SLP package....if he was smart, hed look around internet forums and realize he could have gotten that kinda power much much cheaper.
And he really cant drive if hes only running 12.4 with his mods now, but look at his MPH, it IS higher then yours so becareful, cause if he does leanr how to drive..wow.

Before i did the cam/headers i was running a 12.7@108, then i added the cam/headers but i never had the chance to tune it before the track day. Im sure cam/headers take more than .3 off e/t's for ls1's, especially since i trapped the same speed.

if hes running those times on street tires, maybe the problem isnt he cant drive, but he cant put it down. if he does have DR and runs those times, then your probally gonna get him.
I just realized you have headers not heads....now its a little bit more even in his favor then i thought. Good luck and tell him he doenst need 4.56s

He can't drive. With those mods he should be in the 11's. His trap speed is a little low too. 4.56 gears are way too much for a T-56 car on FI IMO. It's hard for me to get traction with the stock 3.55's.

Yea, your only chance will be getting him off the line. If you launch good enough, there's a small chance he wont pass you since you said he can't drive. But even then, look at the difference in the MPH. He has plenty of room to catch and walk right past you. I have my money on the Cobra. Good luck bro.

I just re-read the post. He's going to put 4.56 gears in his Cobra???! I didn't even know they made gears that go that high! LOL. We have enough problems getting off the line in the stock 3.55's from the IRS. I got my money on you after reading that. Especially since he can't drive. He's just gonna spinnnnnnnnn

Yea, i talked to him the last night and he re-thought it and hes not going with those gears anymore.... and yea, hes MPH was higher than mine, but i think it was mostly due to my car not being tuned and banging off the rev limiter and shifting real late which seemed like an eternity. I never had problems with other year cobras, even if they were supercharged, but damn those 03-04's!!! Finally some good competition!!! I think us ls1 guys needed it!!! What also scares me is that he said he almost has enough money saved up to get a TWIN SCREW kenne bell super on there!!!!! ... In that case.. i will definetly have to spray on him!!!!

What was he using for tires? If he was on street tires and now has drag radials then you could be in real trouble. Hopefully you gained a few mph getting that setup running right. If he's trapping 115 (maybe 116 on s real good run) and you can get your mph around a 112 with that setup, then you have a damn good chance of winning. Either way, if he gets that Kenne Bell, then I'd spray the ***** off your car to win.
