Well considering you have the same engine in a lighter car, and you have a good exhaust setup, I'm guessing you will probably beat him.

You think so, i know hes around 350 horses, and me with a tune could be right around that range also, i thought my car was lighter, i guess we will have to take it to the freeway and see what happens, should i go from a roll, or stoplight racing? What would be a good next mod for me to put his gto to shame? an ls6 intake?>

Well except for the intake manifold and other minor things, you basically have the same engine. He might start out with 10-15rwhp more than you, but you more than made that up with your exhaust. And yeah, you are a few hundred lbs lighter than a GTO.

You'll beat him either way if you can drive at all. But you will beat him more in a short race from a stop, since you *should* be able to launch easier due to your live axle.

you have the same motor. you have 350 horsepower stock, too. GM underrated f-bodies on purpose in order to make the corvette look like a more powerful car, even though they have the same real horsepower and the f-body actually dynoes higher due to its solid axle vs. the corvette's hp-robbing IRS. you had the same horsepower STOCK as your buddy's stock '04 GTO. with your setup, you have about 400 crank horsepower in a significantly lighter car. as long as you know how to drive even a little bit, you'll destroy him.

ls6 intake is about as direct as it gets if memory serves me (its been a while since ive swapped an intake). you just have to change the gaskets. as for a combo mod? maybe tb bypass... you should invest in an airlid/filter and go ahead and do the free ram air mod while your at it. to get technical he does have a pretty decent exhaust from the factory (true duel ftw) and hes also got that fancy M-45 gearbox from the Z06. i still think youll edge him out but by no means destroy him. best of luck tho

You should beat him no problem.

My friend has an 04 gt0 m6 w/intake and we have raced many times. When i had a lid, cutout and ported TB i beat him by 1/2 a car from 65-130.(My car is also very heavy...stereo system doesnt help much

I then raced him after i put on my LT's and duals. So my mods were LT's, Duals, lid, ported TB. From 30-110 i beat him by about 3 cars. We then ran again but he had a 1 car jump from 50-120 and i passed him and put another 2 cars on him. His car is strong for being almost stock but i walk by him every time.

Yeah you should be able to take him. I ran a M6 04 GTO and took him, even gave him the hit. Went from a 60 roll.

yes, it's really true. GM underrated the f-body on purpose to make customers think you got a lot more power on a corvette when the power level was actually the same. they didn't want customers to think they were paying $20,000 more for a corvette when they could have gotten the same power in an f-body. the TRUE horsepower rating at the crank for an f-body is 345-350 horsepower.

you have about 50 horsepower more than your friend in a car that's more aerodynamic and weighs less. you should beat him pretty good. if you know how to drive your car, i see at least 3-4 car lengths. don't expect to destroy him like some civic, but you'll get him good if he's stock. what is your transmission and gears? the only way i see the race being close is if you have an A4 w/2.73's. if you have an M6, you'll get him real good.

either they come with or you can get a new set from your local dealership for a minimal fee. that or i think you can use the ones from your old intake.

Good luck with the race, but I'd still take the Goat (if it's an M6)

you own a mustang GT. due to your obvious poor taste in cars, your opinion doesn't count

You're sure a funny guy... shame you could only pull a 13.6 with over 300rwhp . How's it feel to have an LS1 running the same times as LT1s, and still act like a badass?

Edit: And I'm just gonna come out and say it; the 04-06 GTO was (besides the Corvette) the best car GM has had in this country in a LONG time, and I'm glad they are again using a Holden basis for the new G8, which also looks quite promising.
