Default street race vs cop?

Hah, my friend and i were racing some guy in a 00 mustang gt. Oh by the way were in a 99 z28. Were racing along and all the sudden we drive up on a cop sitting on the side of the street. Were like "oh sheet" so my buddy slams on the breaks, but the mustang keeps going. (mind you were doing about 120ish) The cop fly's by us and takes off after the mustang, so we take the next dirt road and just keeps the dirt flying as we pull into a drivway (with tree's all around so were hiden). But come to find out teh kid that kept going got arrested. Thought it was quite funny because he always was saying how if in a street race he'd never stop for cops. Well he wasn't a liar. He wrecked his mustang and got jail time. hah.

Hated that kid anyhow.

Well good kill, but as much as i hate to admit it, that is one real ************ right there. Not many people back up the crazy claims like that seriously. Not that i endorse that or anything. Im just sayin...damn.

Sucks that he wrecked but better him than him hitting someone else in the process. Street racing is fun and if you wanna try and outrun the cops then go ahead but the think with street racing you can always back off when traffic rolls around or something feels wrong. racing a cop is dumb because you can't back off when traffic or other people area around. Granted this was in Indiana and idk if ya'll have traffic like here in LA.

the cops might not have the fastest cars, their radio is pretty fast and they got lots of friends... very hard to beat... runnins never a good thing.. lol

The guy who stops first gets away with it. Period. Cops, like most animals with a predatory mindset HEAVILY prefer chasing a moving target as that is why many of them joined. To carry a gun and disobey laws. PERFECT CHANCE! to speed recklessly and be a "hero" for catching someone.

Point in case:

One time I was cruising along in my 95' TA when an ESCORT! blows by me. WTF!? I wonder how fast he is going so I match his speed and stay 4 cars back and in the other lane. We are doing 110. We come over a hill and a cop on the frontage road sees us and jumps the median to catch us. I SLAMMED my brakes on and went 110-55 ASAP. The cop gave me the evil-eye, I refused to look at him. He took off after the escort. No penalty for me Did teach me not to speed over hills--even on nice sunny days.

My experience on this is the other way around, cops around here will ticket and pull over the guy in the back provided they aren't racing but just speeding. If I'm speeding I make sure I have some behind me so I can use him as an excuse...I'm not sure what the legal verbage is but your allowed to accelerate past the speed limit if somone is riding your tail. I've used that excuse once when I got pulled over. I told the cop this guy was tailing for the last 4 miles so that's why I was going over the speed limit. Worked for me, but I guess if the cop had to chose between somone that stops and one that keeps going obviously he's gonna stop the latter one.

Hmm...good question and I'm happy to tell you I have no idea and don't plan on finding out either. Worst ticket I got was $450 for doing 95mph in a 25mph zone in my mom's 98 mazda protoge. I flew out the next morning to go back to school in NY and my mom dealt with the judge in court. Because I was going to a military academy he went easy on me.
