I just drove a 2001 Cobra and it feels as fast as the last LS1 Camaro I drove about a month ago. A stock mid to low 13 second N/A Cobra or Mach 1 will beat 9 out of 10 LT-1 F bodies and its a drivers race that could go either way with an LS1 F-body.

not being an ***. well kinda. i dont take anything for granted on the streets. like many others have said anything can be made fast or anything can happen. i dont care if a hyndia excell whacks pipes at me on the street if my bottle is open im sprayin(plus its fun). the way i look at it is i expect to lose to everything i race so if i win im pumped but if i lose ill give you a big thumbs up and if you wanna chat after thats cool but other than that i go about my business.

a stock ls1 with a good driver can run high 12's to low 13's now mustangs STOCK cant run 12's and they might run a HIGH 13(your is a dohc so i dont know what you run) so so must are going to need somthing to run with them

a stock mach 1 (5 speed) and an ls1 are a drivers race. then if you throw in an 03/04 cobra in the mix if both cars are properly driven u can bend over as far as possible and kiss your *** goodbye

you forget that a an fbody was roughly the same price as an 03-04 cobra and you could pick up a new egde gt for like 23g brand new.

One serious fact is,Mustang owners did not have anything to brag about or fall back on when arguing what is faster between a factory Camaro and a Mustang.That was until 2003 when the AA Cobra was introduced.A year after the Camaro was discontinued.Year by year comparisons the Camaro z28/SS spanks the Cobra/GT/.In addition,there are a lot more ls1 owners on ls1tech.com than Mustang owners but just as much Mustang owners in this particular forum.They like to talk trash,and they get very curious about what ls1 owners are posting in here.Most LS1 owners post in the technical forums of www.ls1tech.com.

The GT's were always slower than the F -bodies from 93 on. Then in 96-98 The Cobra's were as fast as the LT-1 cars, but the SS/ WS6 was still faster. In 99 it was the first time that a factory GT was even close to the LT-1 F bodies and could break into the 13's with a good driver. At that point the SS/WS6 and Cobra were a drivers race. Of course we are talking about post fix 99's and the 01's. The 99 and 01 Cobras were mid to low 13 second cars which is pretty comparable to what pre 01 C5's ran and LS1 F-bodies. I know some factory freaks ran 12's but most were mid to low 13 second cars.

I know its pathetic that Mustang owners were stuck with the slower cars, but thats why I bought a Cobra

One problem with the Cobra's is that a bad driver in a Cobra would get his *** handed to him by a bad driver in a LS1 car. You have to know how to drive around the powerband and shift to get the best out of a Cobra.

I agree with that 98-02 SS versus 99-01 Cobra=drivers race.The SS did have a slight advantage though.

The 97 SS LT-4 cars were freaking beasts I would put one of those up against the later SS LS1 cars. Its strange because MT I think got a 97 SS to go 4.8 0-60 and 13.2 in the 1/4 mile and weren't able to duplicate those times on the later SS cars. With a really good launch they have gotten 99-01 Cobras (magazine times) to run the same 4.8 0-60 and 13.30's. Both cars respond good to mods of course the LS1 being alot easier to buy one cam instead of 4

Mine with mods screamed on the top end I had not lost too many cars at high speeds. My buddies modified 300ZX turbo launched me and by about 140 mph *** pounded me. And a C5 sent me crying home to Momma!

But then again I don't live in Texas, Illinois or Detroit where you have to have 800 to the wheels to win!

They honestly believe their 12 second cars are fast. Of course,
that doesn't apply to the vast majority of the guys here.

I sure hope by this post you meant that your cars runs 9's.

good arguement.

There were these years, called 1979-1992, you know, the years that revived the camaro/mustang rivalry. Just so happened that mustangs had a strong edge there. But yea, good point.
