I had a very similar run-in with a 240 around where I work. When we were first messing around, I'd give him the jump and it would seem that I was barely able to hang with him. We pulled into a gas station and turns out he's running a JDM motor with 10lbs being pumped into it. We set up a 10mph roll (tires are BALD and I spin pretty bad until 3rd so I didn't want a dig, so flame away) and I nosed him 3 races in a row to 70ish but he hung in there really well. I was impressed and he was a pretty cool dude to boot. After that day, I had a newfound respect for 240's and what you can do with them.

i'm just trying to fathom why you would race from the WORST dead spot your car has against a car you know is heavily modded and close to your speed?

I use to have a 240 with a Sr20, pretty string motors for what they are, there are 2-3 different turbos that that guy could have had, a t25 which will only hold 12-13 lbs of boost to redline, a t28 which will hold about 15-16 to redline or a ball bearing t28 which will hold a little better boost. A buddy of mine is runnin the t25 and turnin 13.0s in street tires, he has a 91 and it weighs a little over 2700 lbs.

I was thinking the same thing.....I mean he said he nosed the guy every time when they raced at a little bit of a higher roll. Obviously that shows the 240 isnt to be taken lightly so why put yourself in the worst possible position?

No shame there.

As for tech info:
He could have a turboed stock motor. The KA24 is the stocker and its not half bad really. It used to get a bum rap but its becoming popular to turbo it.
Many just get the SR20 motor though. 15-16PSI will NOT be yeilding 300WHP or whatever as said earlier, but it will give it nice mid-low 200s and thats pretty decent in a car that light.

Someone said they would love to see one with an LSX. Go search the Hybrids section, there are a couple and they are absolutely insane

The good news is that you are stock. And thats the easiest place to be in if you want to gain power. From the sound of it just a few changes in your car would have changed the outcome. So get some mods as suggested. but also check everything on your car. Its amazing to me how many people dump all this $$ into their cars without doing basic stuff that would yeild big gains. So check your spark plugs and their gaps. Make sure the 02 is in spec. Stuff like that makes a diff.

If you want the quick cheap power, just get a cutout and a lid. That should do the trick.

Oh, and its not an excuse if HE BACKS IT UP.
Unbelieveable, typical ricer trying to convince everyone that "rice isn't a car yo, its a state of mind".

Better add that one to the F&F, maybe they'll use it in their next movie.

Rice = Asian vehicles, namely modified ones. Thats the definition, stupid ricers like yoruself try to change it though because it makes you feel bad. Get a life.

Ignorant crap that gives domestic owners bad names?? Yes, thats it, you've got it. Not. You are a typical import ***, you think you have all the answers about everything, and you get all offended when someone calls a Jap car rice. Like I said, get a life, go troll somewhere else.

Yea, by what, cranking up his boost?? Dumbass, thats what every ricer says when they lose. Its bullshit, next time I lose a race I'm going to say "Yo I was low on NOS, let me get a 150 shot and I'll kick your ***". Dumbest **** ever, damn ricers.

Or you could say, "That was a good race, but let me try it out on a 200 shot instead of a 150 shot."

You're a ******* idiot.. almost everyone with a mature and sensible opinion on this board agrees that the term "rice" about the mentality and modifications on the car then the car itself. Don't even try and tell me I'm saying this because I am trying to feel better about what I drive, that ain't gonna work. You sound like the kind of person that sees all this japanese competition and can't stand it so you flip about there not being any acceptable japanese cars out there. If your preference is domestic good for you I can respect that obviously mine is as well.

I hesitant to even most in this thread with some of the retarded comments i have read.

How is driving your turbo'ed car on the highway with the boost turned down...probably for economical reasons....and then turning it up when need be...rice??

Thats no different that the guys running a bottle turning it on after they lose a n/a race.

A death is a death, whether you e-thugs think this car is junk rice, he is probably at home satisfied with the fact that most of you calling him rice, would get eaten alive by his car.

Sure i would never drive the 240, i think their ugly. I'm happy with my "slightly" modified lt1. BUT, if i was to get beaten by a 240, i would give respect where its due.

Damn i'm out of ricer excuses...you just got owned. Buy some more mods....
That is awesome.

no shame in that

i have a buddy with a 89 240 with a SR20 and a t3t4 turbo and on pump gas he puts 387 to the wheels and thats at 16 psi when he runs c16 he cranks the boost to 23-24 psi that thing hauls some ***, he traps in excess of 120 at the track on pump gas it weighs 2800 lbs with him in it, definitely a car to watch out for

Ahh the low boost excuse again, I love it. Does that mean I can say I lost to someone because I was on low mods?

i drove my 240 around on 7psi daily. i had a manual boost controller. so i would only turn it up if it was a setup race. I guess i'm a ricer. Or i just like not abusing my cars. Either way, my 240 is slow.

I guess I'm a ricer too since I drive my TA on 8lbs. unless something beats me to go to 16.

As well as a new fuel filter (if it was not changed recently), and dump some Redline SI/Amsoil PI/Techron, or Lucas injector cleaner in the tank. It's amazing the difference that can make if it's needed!

Ricer is a person, someone who drives a modifies jap car, or tries to make their vehicle look japanese. "Rice" refers to a vehicle of Asian decent. As in "that Civic is rice" or "that guy riced out his Camaro" or "that ricer thinks that stupid wing looks good".

Any car from Asia can be considered rice. thats where the term originated, it wasn't even a term until people started modifying Japanese imports to look and/or go faster.

Think about that for a minute and come back when you're done shitting your pants and crying about it like a child.
