Thread hijacked? Not really. The OP posted his stock LS1 kill on an LT1 with exhaust and intake. Your experience is consistently different from this? Another reason i like this forum...educational. Please explain.

Well maybe my car runs strong for an LT1, it's just when I had minimal mods I remember outrunning quite a few stock LS1's on the streets by a car. At the track it's a different story b/c I totally suck at dragging my car. Although I have run into guys on the street that see me run at the track and think they can totally take me, then I outrun them by about 2 cars, :dunno:

Oh btw forgot to add my car at the track had a real hard time overheating and keeping voltage so that might've had a big thing to do with my horrible times. That will be fixed tho when it's up and running b/c I've got better guage wiring for the alternator and have remedied the cooling problem with silicon hoses, an E-WP, manual fan switch, and a system flush.
But hey this is the internet and the LS1 is God right?

Well. I guess you just have another one of those LT1 monsters I keep hearing about. Glad your sorting out the problems.

LS1 God? no, but LS1>LT1 in my experience.

I would loved to be pulled by an LT1 with minimal mods... I would most definitely stop and shoot the ****. Respect is given where respect is due. Respect is due when it is earned, you walk by me with just a few mods then you got my respect. You walk by me with no mods then you really god my respect.

Like i said I've seen strong LT1's.. and I have seen dogged LS1's. Theres a healthy variation of everything out there.. there are even slow terminators out there haha.

i know when i was intake/exhuast, pcm4less tune i outran my buddies 02 A4 WS6 from just about every roll except, only place i had trouble was from a dig but i would catch him and pass him eventually (im M6), i think when my car had all my mods i could have cut a 13.1-13.3 or so a the track but i was a ***** launching the car since i had broken a ten bolt about 6 months before and didnt want to repeat the experience.... anyway both our cars ran mid 13's at the track with me takin it easy during the launch and him full into it from the very beginning

but now tha i sold everything off and just have some suspension stuff hell beat me lol at least for a litte longer

good kill to the op some lt1's run good for what they have some dont

Like 04Terminator said, LS1>LT1 stock for stock. Now, the more money you throw at something, the faster it gets. And don't get me wrong, I like the LT1s, a buddy of mine has a 97 BPM Z28 with a supercharger (I think it's a Magnuson? It's not my car so I don't know the exact specs) and that thing will eat my LS1 for lunch. Of course, if I were S/C, it would be a different story, but I think I am staying close to stock in my DD Camaro.
Uh-oh, did I just use a ricer excuse?

When I had my LT1 Hotcam setup, I ran a M6 LS1 with a Hotcam and pretty much the same bolt ons. We ran from 0-120 and I was 2 car lengths behind him. Both of us had DR's, and shitty launches..
Now I am goin back to get him with my new Engine, I am goin to tell him I just changed the Cam out..

Default might help who knows

a freind of mine has an lt1 z has full bolt ons...long tubes ory cat back, programmer pulleys cai throttlebody, blah blah yada yada...oh and a m6 3.42 gearing

my car 98 ta a4 3.73s all bolt ons headers intake lid tune blah blah yada yada....probably 300+lbs heavier than his...

To make a long story short my car trapped 6-7 tenths faster than his every pass and 3-4 mph withb very even 60ft times...

the lt1 is a powerful engine quick in its day..however it is no match for the lsx engines when evenly modded...

to the op sounds about spot on to me...good kill

Actually, this thread is going well.
No bickering or arguing... everyone seems to agree/ get along.

And of course the LT1 will lose to an LS1 when evenly modded, they where like that stock, why would that change if you put the same mods on each car?
Not that its an excuse, but one of the main reasons an LT1 runs .5 tenths slower stock is because its extremly choked out... any LT1 owner can back me on this. Stock intake, manifolds and exhaust is just terrible and most LT1's that have a CAI, headers and Catback will run with a stock LS1 easily.
Key word: run. maybe not beat, but it'll be right there.

LS1's breathe so damn well from the factory, with Lids, bascially shorty headers and better stock exhausts.
To me, putting a CAI, headers and Catback on an LT1, and getting rid of 2.73's is a must for any LT1 owner.
Like I said, not an excuse for arguement... but its the truth.
I can't wait till I get another set of headers... this time Jet Hot Coated

Expected outcome. Don't get me wrong. I have friends with LT1 cars and love riding in them. They are more fun to drive in the 1-3k RPM range but after that, I'll take my LS1 car, which is still 7 years old . I love Chevy engines in general though!

palestine is about an hour away ... longview is right off I-20 on the way to shreveport just a little past tyler

you have a major advantage at the track with the A4 .... driving a M6 at the track with a stock rearend sucks (been there done that broke it).... at the track my buddy with the a4 02 WS6 ran 2 mph faster than me and about .1 of a second faster, but on the street i outran him
