raced a lt1
So after work me and buddy were bsing, and he was think he had a good chance of beating me in my stock 99 trans am with his 93 Camaro with exhaust, no cats, and a aftermarket intake oo and he is auto and i am m6.. So we leave the parking lot and line up going about 25.( i havent had this car long and dont know how to launch from a dead stop yet without roasting them.) I pulled about 2 or 3 cars up till 70 or so and we had to let off, we did this again with the same results.
LS1 guys will say that was expected and you should get one that will say the wrong thing and upset an LT1 guy. he will get banned for being too defensive and the LS1 guys will rejoice on his banning from the site. this will further aggravate the LT1 guys. then one LT1 guy and a few LS1 guys will argue. then they will make a comparison to a mustang and/or an import. then the mustang and/or import guys will take offense. another guy will be banned, then the LS1 guys will rejoice again. well, thats what the magic 8 ball told me any way.

Plenty of LT1's out there that run very strong but the LS1 is a better motor stock v. stock and responds better to mods. I was able to run with or by cam only LT1's when all I had was LT's, Pro 5.0 and the good ol' Driver Mod.
Plus the six speed is usually a good advantage in a roll race. That being said there are PLENTY of LT1's out there that would walk me.
Good kill and if you catch crap for beating an LT1 just beat them with a stick.

So you pulled 2 to 3 cars on the LT1 from 25-70 mph and he has mods and you are stock? That could happen I guess if the other guy was a real crappy driver and or his car wasnt running right.

agreed, a few years back I raced my buddie's 94 LT1 when all i had was an FTRA and cat-back, he had similar mods (CAI, gutted cats) he was an auto an I have an M6. It was very similar results to the OP's but we raced till about 130 an i put a couple cars on him.
Total BS lol no good kill i hate people that know nothing and think there car is end all I had a buddy with a 97 he wanted to race my 95 said he would kill me i told him they were exactly the same oh well live and learn. i personally never got to race an ls1 f-body before my rebuild.

I didn't see that he had LT's, he said his car is stock. The LT1 supposedly had exhaust and intake, I don't see what's so difficult about beating a stock LS1 with LT's, no cats, and an intake.

My point was that a stock LS1 manual should take an exhaust/intake LT1. That is my experience. Correct me if I'm wrong.
