Buried the speedo at 1:30 am w/passenger riding shotgun
My buddy John who is a police officer also finally came over to see the car. He made a very bold statement, "you said this thing is fast, now prove it." I had an evil grin on my face and said ok lets run downtown and back, and he agreed. Nothing sensational on the way down, a few cars but had the oppurtunity to hit 170 against a c6 vert. This guy had no clue what was about to happen. He honks and hits it, I then hit it and walk by and proceed to put buses on him. He catches up after I coast back down to 70 and he gives me the biggest grin with a thumbs up! I return the gesture.
Now we are turning around and decide to go back to the burbs and for some reason he asks me to drive up I 275 and I do. No action there either. Now the fun is about to start. Two bikes come flying out of nowhere and John says I'll bet you can't catch them. I give chase and I finally bring them back into view after getting up to 180 mph just to catch up. I stay on it as I pass and I believe they were dumb struck to see me passing them at 180 mph and still on the throttle. After getting ahead of them by a good distance I decide to glance down and I see my tach is at 66 almost 6700 rpms in 5th gear and the speedo needle is burried. I have 3.42 rear gears, and I know the factory guages are a bit off but how fast was I really going. The needle was right at 200 mph. All I can say is thank you to God for letting me survive that run, and thank you to LG Motorsports for setting this car up to handle a run like that. I think when they lowered the car they all but eliminated the front end lift issue I was concerned about last year. Car felt even more stable now that its been lowered. BTW after I let off and coasted for a couple of miles the rider of the blue bike got right next to the passenger door and was frantically waving a Thumbs up. I guess he approved. The other guy went flying by ricer style. All in all the most fun I have had in my car this year. I must say I am addicted to speed.

I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone to reply. I can't believe I am not getting flamed. Thanks a lot for the positive comments. Let me tell you I have to work in the morning and I am still pumped full of adrenaline and can't go to sleep. I won't call the passing of the bikes a kill. I am not sure if they were still accelerating or just holding at 180 mph.......All I know is that when I went by them they had to be thinking WTF !!!!!!!!! What is the topend of a GSXR 1000/1100 anyways. Could he have just hit it and passed me?? It had to be one of the bigger bikes, I don't know of any 600's going 180 mph and cruising at that speed.

Well I won't say anything about the intelligence of you or the biker w/ the passenger, but I'll tell you this (might help, might not)... When Motor Trend tested a 6spd C5 back in '97, they said they saw the speedo pegged on a topspeed run. The official topspeed of the car was verified at 172mph.

I don't know a lot about the tops speeds of bikes but I do know a little bit and to me it sounds like you were definitely in their territory! I know a guy with a modded 1000 I think suzuki and he said the most he's done is 202 and that's with all the mods. I usually hear 180 or so. Nice run and be careful

I have 20 grand into the the car. That's everything though.
AFR Heads, Experimental cam (to be released in the future by LG Motorsports), New comp 921 dual valve springs, G2 Supercool radiator w/built in oil cooler, Wilwood SL-6 Front brakes 6 piston calipers, Slotted Rotors, LG pro longtube headers, asp u/d pully, meziere EWP, Ported 90 mm Fast intake, 90 mm TB, SVO 30 lb injectors, bbexhaust bullet catback (no cats/no mufflers) Exedy twin plate clutch, carbon fiber drive shaft, Dte Stg III rear, DTE rear brace, oversize air bridge with smooth coupler, and a Zo6 MAF. Forgot to mention the numerous hours Louis spent tuning this sucker to make it perfect. Also .040 cometics and the heads are milled to 59 cc giving me 11.4 to 1 compression. I did the VaraRam CAI with the help of my neighbor. LG Motorsports did the rest. Oh yeah they lowered the car too and I bought the chrome c5 zo6 wheels with Michelin PS2 on them 265 front 295 rear. I will be getting another set or rear zo6 rims with 305 dr's mounted on them for the track and those days I need more traction on the street. Hope this answers your questions. I would have done it locally but I called around and everyone was MORE expensive and wanted to keep my car for a month. I am so happy that I went with LG Motorsports.

The suspension is the z51 handling pkg. I also opted for Active Handling. Great option for only 500 bucks.

Damn bro, you're taking your car up to speeds that I wouldn't even come within 70MPH of. 130 is PLENTY fast for me! Lol.... I'm sure you know it, but that's dangerous as hell. Just be careful, ESPECIALLY with someone else in the car. I'd hate to see an R.I.P allngn_C5 thread. Lol

wow, you need to thank God for not letting any bumps in the road throw you into a deadly spin/flip...
that being said, nice runs, and i bet thats the last time you feel the need to go that fast

Is it a FRC or a coupe....I believe the coupes even stock from 2000 on were good for damn near 180 mph stock. Your car has enough power to pull 5th gear farther than the stock ones so 180 should be easy for you. I would imagine 200 to be easily possible.

295 30 18, its either 30 or 35, but I think its 30. They are the Michelin equivalent of OE for the c5 zo6.
