Default LS1 vs. Modded Lotus Exise

This past week i was down in Myrtle beach relaxing with some friends. didn't plan on racing up there but you know how it is when u have a trans am. So me and my friend are crusin up and down the strip when we go buy a pancake house with a blue lotus out in front. i'm not a big fan of imports but this car was sexy. so we pull in and start talking to the guy. he said he paid $70,000 for the car. he asked me what i had and i showed him. we got to talking and he asked me if i wanted to race. i was like sure. cause where i live at you don't get a chance to race a lotus cause only old women drive them. so we go out to highway 31. first we go from a stop. he never stood a chance. i put 12 cars on him before 3rd gear. then we race from a 20 role. i jumped out on him becasue of my torque. he tried to pull me back in but couldn't. i won that one by 2 cars. oh forgot to say that i also had a full tank of gas and a passenger. and his car only ways 2,000 lbs. anyways then we race one last time. 20 role again so we race and i put cars on him again but this time it was a top end race. we raced up to about 120mph and he lost to me by a fender. so this is what happened when a bone stock LS1 races a modded lotus.

and i also think that lotus's run 13.5 at the track or maybe his did. anyways it was a pretty quick car.

yeah, they are slow. i raced one in my mid-12 3rd gen and beat it by 10+ lengths on the highway.

what were his mods? lotuses are slow as ****....might, i say might, make 120ish hp at the wheels. but theyre made for handling, not for drag/street racing. there are a few at the club i autox at, and even bone stock, theyre very close to my times, with V710s, and stock suspension (until today). theyre one of the very few imports id buy. id road race it or something. getting into one makes you feel like youre 80 with arthritis.

Well considering they have a 190hp version of the 180hp Celica GTS/Matrix XRS/Corolla XRS motor, I think they probably have a bit more than 120hp at the wheels... but yes, they aren't straightline cars.

his modds were a cold air intake, and full straight pipe exhaust. and i think some other stuff but he wouldn't tell me. yeah it was a quick little car but still stood no chance against an LS1

I would buy one as well. But before even driving it home, it would be in a shop getting that TOYboy motor ripped out, and something domestic (with some *****!) installed. IF an LSx could not fit/work, a nice built Ecotec turbo, or Escort Cosworth setup (either one in the 500-600 rwhp vicinity) would be sweet (and it would not even upset the weight distribution/balance too much!).

i raced a stock one in Gainsville with my stock LS1. He ran a 13.7. I ran a 13.9. If not for my horrible reaction time i would have got him.

The guy I am quoting is right

Look up the stats and feel like an idiot..

I rented one for a weekend and it was a lot of fun. No torque though, even in a 1900lb car

yeah it was a fun race. just had to take the chance cause it is rare that you run into one of those cars that's not driven by an old guy.
