I developed a headache at the gym so i left early. coming off of roosevelt onto 83 i see a mustang going probably around 100-120 fly past the on ramp so i think...oh FINALLY someone to race!!

i go 60 and catch up to him at a red light. there is a car between us but we both knew it was on....

then some jerk lady in minivan decides to turn right into my lane so a dig race is out of the question now...i go and the mach1 punches it a little. sounded nice, definetely had some sort of exhaust.

i get in the middle lane next to him and get him to slow down to about 40...i put it in third give the three honk signs. i honk three times wait one second and punch it. i got about a car on the punch and stayed in front to about 90 or so. (83 has hidden cops everywhere... )

we hit a red light again and talk a little. exchange compliments. they said i had a nice car i asked if it was a real mach 1 not just a clone and they said it was. i asked them what they had done to it and i THINK they said "not too much" with a little smile. they went to strats i went home to sleep


it was cool...i dont usually get races at all.


Car infos:

His car: a white mach 1...somewhere in the early 2000's, not the newest body style the one before (sorry not up on my mustang skills). definetely had exhaust and probably some more. it was a real clean car and had some really stylish black aftermarket rims. i liked that car. seemed comfortable


my car: 79 trans am lt1/t56. ported intake lt4hc and supporting valvetrain lts + true duals + open cutouts. (could be why i had a headache:-/) holley ignition taylor wires (ew) yada yada 4.10s in the 8.5" 10 bolt and traction bars etc etc. no numbers :-(


please feel free to chime in your "my friend raced this guy and ______happened" stories as well as "stock mach1s run ___ but my friend's ran a ___" stuff.

Nice race...Mach's were only made in '03-04.

 

Nice run! Probably would have been more enjoyable without the headache. Sounds like you ran up against a mildly modded Mach 1. I'm thinking a catback with maybe an intake and filter under the hood. The SN95 Mach 1's were only made in 03 and 04 as mentioned above.

 

awesome! so im guessing its a pretty "rare" car as mustangs go? any stock numbers?

 

a stock 04 mach with a decent driver will run low-mid 13s.

 

Ford made a bit over 9600 Mach 1s in 2003, and a bit less than 7200 in 2004.

 

Definitely sounds like that lady was a jerk, getting in your way and all when you were trying to race

Good Kill...from my experience, they don't have much topend like we do. My buddy has an 04 so we run quite a bit and he tends to jump on me from a roll until about 70-80 and from a dig I'll destroy him (i'm guessing b/c he spins and I don't spin AS much)...They're pretty stout for a mustang...too bad its still a Ford...
