I call BS, M5 vs. C6 lie!! Got this from the M5 board, thought it might peak the attention of some C6 drivers.

"While entering a long freeway entrance ramp, I noticed a black convertible C6 Vette in front of me cruising at a high rate of speed. He was in the left of 3 lanes. I was in the middle lane gaining ground until I caught up to him. As soon as I got even with him, we both take off. We started at about 90. I thought I would get beat but as we got deep into triple digit speeds, I was half a car ahead of him and gaining ever so slightly...if at all. I shut it down and dropped back while he just kept going ahead. I didn't want to press my luck since this freeway is always filled with cops. I would have loved to have seen the look on his face when he realized he couldn't shake a 6 year old 4 door sedan. This car just amazes me on a daily basis."

Im not even going to post the ones with M5's them supposedly smokin' Z06's, 
.I cant beleive there is enough afterket for M5s to mod enough to kill a Z06, hate American cars all you want, but this is a stretch!!

Maybe the convertable top was down??? Maybe he put it into 5th instead of 3rd or 4th??? Im sorry but a 400hp coupe w/3200lbs vs a 400hp sedan with the better part of 4000lbs... i wonder whos gonna win...

It might be possible if it was a bone stock '05 A4 with 2.73s...slower than you think from a 90 roll, or if the Vette driver just dropped it into 5th instead of 3rd or even 4th at 90mph. Just 'cause BMWoman was racing all out doesn't mean the Vette was.
Of course, I have to wonder what "deep into triple digit speeds" is to him. The new V10 M5 is speed limited to 155mph in stock form, and I put one down a few months back. We started around 70mph and it was a very good run for me until 130ish, passed him at 140-150 and by 178 shut down but I was still pulling (on the hud)...he was fading fast. Talk about a look on his face...he flipped me off for my troubles, and he initiated the race. I had time to hit the brakes, change 3 lanes and drop to 120 before he passed me at what sounded like full throttle.
Otherwise, I would agree that this doofus is "amazed" by his car every day...and probably by sparkly things and jingly bells too.

The one I ran was a new M5 V10, but I'm obviously not stock and run mid-11s on street tires at 123. The one in this story is, as JayPlay said, an older 400hp M5. The new M5 can fairly easily beat a new C6 from a 90mph roll to 155mph, both stock. From a roll, they are no joke for all the reasons you mentioned. The one I ran gave me a good run from 60-70 start...it took me to 140+ to pass him from a car back, slowly pulling. And, I get pulled by a CAI/Tune C6Z by a couple cars from 50-150.
