From what I read, they caught the one kid racing, but the other was pulled over for a traffic stop. They had no reason to check the engine! "Sergio Zavala, 18, was pulled over in his 1993 yellow Honda Civic for a broken taillight in December"

Maybe I'm paranoid, but that is a little too much power in the hands of the police. I understand wanting to stop street racing, but you still have to follow some rules...

you haven't lived in CA have you? some cities here have task forces setup to crack down on street racing with under cover cops etc...other cities have task forces that spend there time all day pulling slightly modified cars over (exhaust/tint etc) and then having probable cause to look under the hood and search the car. then they check all the carb stickers on the parts you have. if you're caught street racing and depending on your record and the cops mood they can order your car to be crushed. if your at a street race and are just watching, they can site you and if they notice your car is modified, go to town on a ticket or even crush it if the car was made to race on the street (not sure how they deem this). it's a scary thing out here. this is why i don't go to any of the street races

why is this fort pierce guy so full of anger?? was his entire family killed by a serial murdering f-body?? man, i haven't seen someone so hateful towards V8s since...well i guess he's the most.

it's a sad day to own an f-car when some LS1 junkie goes to an import forum and trolls the **** out of it.

don't take it personally...it's not that we're saying (well, most of us anyway) that all imports are shitty scummy trash and only f-body owners deserve to be first class citizens...we're not even saying that all LS1s are faster than all imports...just that faster cars are more kick *** than slower cars. whether that car is an import or a domestic makes no difference (to the sane ones among us)...just don't take **** so damned personal.

...

just relax and enjoy the company of fellow gear heads

Thats funny because thats exactly what I think of when I see random import basing on every car site on the internet. Its ok thought im not here to talk about imports this is a domestic V8 site.

does anyone know where LS1s were/are made...fort pierce pointed out in a different thread the obvious flaw in logic when refering to f-bods as domestics when they're made in Canada...my next logical question is, where's the motor made? if it's made in mexico or something that was put a serious dent on some people's american V8 pride lol

While I would also never do such a car, the "torque" won't help at all (especially from a roll).

Remember that HP=TQ*RPM/5252.

And 800 lbs is a lot of weight. There is just no way around that. The power to weight ratio of a 350 WHP 93 Civic Hatch is about 6.5 (2300 lbs) which is about the same as a stock C6 Z06. Like I said, a 350 WHP 93 Civic Hatch will destroy a stock Vette, and in this case, quite a few used Ferraris.

No it fvckin won't I can guarantee You this ok? Want to find out? Fine... get that Civic.. I got the Vette ready, it's 375hp... extra 25hp should not be a big deal since You said that this Civic would DESTROY IT. Till then.. end of story.

Stop getting mad over cars you don't own. a 350hp civic is fast as hell for a civic. They run 13s with 220hp........think about it.

Are you serious about thinking a car with a 6.5 HP per pound would lose to a stock C6? Do you even know what you are saying. The difference between this said Civic and a stock Vette is the same as a stock LS1 F-body and like a stock 96 Mustang GT. A C6 Z06 and this said Civic would be a good race from a roll, not a regular Civic.

Wanna know how I can figure this out? By comparing the two cars.

A C5 z06 from a roll but damn a C6 z06? Are you sure?

I mean that 350hp civic is probably gutted and weighing in at around 1700 lbs but still, C6 z06s are light as hell and 500hp at the tap.

exotics are built for top end speed, and can hold it at 200mph all day long if allowing, but 1/4 mile times they are no faster than bolt on f body - vette.... well most

I'm just going on power to weight here (using WHP). Obviously this is all speculative and is bench racing, and even more funny as the civic in question was crushed ( ), but I'm just pointing out that if the car did have that power, it would move pretty good.

2300/350=6.571

3132/450=7.182

I'd probably give the race to the Z06 here since it has strong aerodynamics in its favor while the Civic does not to overcome the power deficit the Z06 has, but against a stock C6, it would not be a close race.

As i read it, they cant crush your new ZO6 for street racing if its stock? Hmm...maybe some sick, twisted multi-millionare should replace any ricers car that gets smashed w/one. At any rate, we should be seeing MORE car chase scenes from the peoples republic of Kalifornia as there is no incentive to stop for the cops anymore.
