I wish you would call out a local Fbody in your area and post the vid, instead of internet racing.

I got a cobalt ss supercharged, as well as an 02 camaro z28 both manual's both are fun to drive, for all out power the camaro wins the battle. no matter what gear your in. for handling and breaking the cobalt wins both of those battles. and refignment. I love camaro's but fit and finish cobalt wins that by a landslide. but the cobalt is no slouch i can garauntee that. easily low 14 second car with out problems. I like both the cars. both are fun in their own ways. both have great power. I bought the cobalt as a fun commuter that gets good gas milage and can accelorate quickly. i'm more than satisfied with the cobalt. and camaro stays my weekend car when i feel like swinging some D's.

Explain away
30 is almost the top of first in a cobalt and is a dead spot in second. So either you hit it and have to shift right away or you lag like a **** by starting in second. I know 30 is great for an Fbody though.

supercharged SVT focus ???...my car hits 43 in first and 72 in second with a 6 speed manual! Surrre..it's not 48-50 like an LS1 but at least it's not 30.

I had that same reaction, now I want to drive one and see whats going on with the gears.
My Ideal spot for a roll is 28-30 mph.The stock stall wont kick after 35 mph.It just bogs and then 3rd picks up.I hate having to try to get people to slow to 30 cause as soon as I get beside them they want to go.But a redlight dig race means, lucks run out for them usually.
Any numbers on your Focus?and what kinda blower are you running?

I'm not boosted [] I worded it wrong. I meant that if it were supercharged it would blow a cobalt out of the water. It's not...so I would probably lose to a cobalt...but the gears are intensely long through 1 and 2, third goes about 95, 4th about 118, 5th probably about 130 and 6th can pull 160 if you have a long enough straight away.

coming from an ls1, no matter what you would probably think my car was slow if you drove it cause I drive it all the time and wish it were way faster.

Nahh, just that I only have 3 truly fast racing gears(which are long as hell)and one final overdrive gear.I can hold 3rd for a longtime at WOT.
Its like a modern powerglide,if you know what that is, with an OD for fuel
economy. Most guys wont complain about their 4l6oe.It launches hard and when dialed in will deliver consistent results.

The cobalt was just gm's ticket into the sport compact scene. Nice looking car though i wouldnt mind having one. I think they run the same chargers that the Pontiac GTP' and SSE Bonnivelle's ran. Hell ive seen a gtp with a pully kit and a little juce turn 7.80's in the 8th. Still like the cobalts though id take them over any other import.

the cobalt ss is underrated 205 hp, typical dyno is around 210whp thus giving it around 240hp at the engine. gearing in second kinda lags. the car begs to be revved up to 7200rpm instead of 6500, if the 7200rpm was redline then the car would have no problem's in second after getting out of first. there are cobalt's w/ just I/E/ Pulley/ injectors are running consistant mid 13's and thats not a super small pulley maybe 15 psi compared to stock 12.5psi. myplans are getting I/H/E/Injectors/ tune to 7200rpm, and i think the car will be capable of consistant mid 13's. lots of ss s/c's that are in the 13's are untuned which i tell em is a bad thing. I will stay away from GM staged kits as they show tons of Knock which is bad. so having it dyno tuned is mucho better.

The SVT focus with a jackson racing supercharger is at 6 PSI. With the "big boost kit it's at 10 PSI I believe. The JRSC is the cheapest supercharger made for the car, but also the most common because it was designed in part by Ford and it doesn't void the 100K warranty. I think it puts down about 230 WHP and 190 WTQ with consistent 14.2's and high 13's if you're a good driver. The car wasn't made for fast acceleration or else they would have put better gears in from the get-go. It's made for handling..which it does...extremely well. I would put 3500 bucks into it for speed but Im in college and to be honest Ill probably sell this car after I get my degree for something that is faster...but for now its a damn fun car and I love the euro package.

On another note...the fastest SVT focus I have seen was an 11.8 with 385 WHP turbocharged....that shows you the straight line limits!
