Well, last night it went down.

first run; We slowed down to 40 mph.. I put the Z06 in first and after the third honk I floored it. I walked him by 4-5 cars. But it didn't seem right.. I called him and he said he didn't have any traction.

second race; We started at around 50-55 mph. I started in 2nd gear this time. Three honks; and again the outcome was similar.. 4-5 cars.. Misshift on his part..

third race; We start again at 55 mph. Again, started in second. Three honks.. I start pulling him immediately. Not hard though.. but as my RPMs rise I see him fall farther behind.. Shift one for him.. The RPM's are still climing for me. Almost immediatly after I shift, He shifts again.. I pull him just a little bit more.. By the time we shut down, he was about a car and a half behind me.

fourth race; He started feeling more confident, and we tried it again. Pretty much the same out come.

We would have kept going but it started to rain and had no traction at all.

I thought it would never happen.

 

So the stock Z06 pulled 1.5 cars on the modded Viper in a ligit race where there was no misshifts. So I would say it would take you another 30 rwhp or so to be even. Keep in mind that this particular Viper has weight reduction too. Here is part of a post from the viper owner himself:

"Since owning the car for the past year I removed...

-soft top ( dont even have one) 10 pounds
-cats and pre muffler 15 pounds
-jack and spare 25 pounds
-last night installed a light weight fly wheel 13 pounds"

Oh, and this was a brand new, not even broken in yet C6 Z06 with paper tags still on it that raced with TC ON!!! killemall, you better hit ATLEAST 480 rwhp mark when your buddy learns to drive it competitively and gets it fully broken in...

 

C6Z's are the fastest cars ever made. Nothing is faster. Ever. Anywhere.

 

The first race around 40 mph I hit it on the 3 beep in 1st gear and spun and got a lil side ways and then let off immediatly. At this time he had put 5-6 cars on me...

The second race we started around 50 mph and this time I spun a lil and then missed a shift to second and immediatly let off..

At this point I think he thought that he was just that much faster and didnt realize that I was immediatly letting off on those two races..


The third race we hit it on the 3 beep and I let him get the jump of a 1/4 car before I hit it ( somthing I always do to make sure they herd the beeps)

We both spin for a lil bit and then he catches traction a lil before I do and puts a car length on me..Then around 75 mph I switch to third gear and he puts another car length on me..So were now around 90 mph or so and he's 2 cars in front of me..Then I see him switch gears and I pull a car to 1/2 a car on him and Im now a car to car and a half behind him.

We stay this way till around 125-140 mph and then let off..

The last race was EXACTLY the same thing again..

So the he pulled me by 1.5 cars from 50-140 mph...Pretty close races..

I feel like if he had done the beeps and I had hit it at the same time as him it could have been a lil closer..

Also his car seemed to get traction a lot better than mine..LOL We laugh about traction control a lot..But it defiently didnt hurt the Vette..LOL

TO ANYONE WHO SAYS YOU NEED 480 PLUS RWHP TO MATCH A Z06 YOU ARE FULL OF ****..

ONCE I GOT TRACTION I STAYED 1-1.5 LENGTHS BEHIND HIM FROM 80-140..NEIGTHER GIVING AN INCH...With only 450 rwhp

A L is an L...But the way you guys talked I was expecting him to just walk away...But other than the initial hit/traction/ he never pulled any..

the C6z06 wasnt faster...Just in the damp conditions he hooked his 420 rwt better than i could hook my 500 rwt...

If we had dead even starts with no spinning and around 80 mph or so he just started walking me and putting a few cars on me I would see your point ( thats what I was expecting with all the hype you talk)..

But the reality is that once we both hooked the Z06 couldnt pull away...You try to build them up too much man..If a bolt on gen 2 with 450 rwhp can be a car behind till 140 mph...Then they aint that fast.

 

blah blah blah...bottom line is that you raced a bone stock Z06 that still has the paper tags on it and not even broken in, had TC on (meaning everytime he spun, the computer killed timing, making the car fall on its face while spinning) in your weight reduced Viper and STILL lost by 1.5 cars.

God help you when you run into a Z06 owner that KNOWS what they are doing with a broken in car. Can you say 2-3 cars by 140?

Like I said, you will need ATLEAST 480 rwhp to JUST BE EVEN with a well driven BONE STOCK Z06.

Brand new and not broken in, TC on which will kill acceleration, not familiar with the car, and you STILL LOST.

oops, fixed. Good kill brutha. Next time around, it will be even worse for him once you get TC off, get some more miles on the engine, and get more familiar with the car...

Yep racing with the traction control on is only gonna hurt you if you spin.

Am I the only one who thinks a race with 30 more WHP on the Viper and a broken in and well driven stock C6Z is pretty likely in a few months time?
