Default Mom's day run

I usually don't post here (mostly because I never run into anyone that wants to race) but here goes. I'm pulling onto this 4 lane road when I hear this LT1 go screamin by with a LOUD exhaust. I'm thinkin it had to be a kid, I know he'll be down for a race. We are in bumper to bumper traffic for a while when it finally opens up. I'm in 2nd goin about 30 (about 3k rpm) and I tell i'll give him the jump. I should have started in first but I really wanted to check out the powerband of the new TR224. He takes off in his A4 and I go right after he jumps it. By the top of second we are about even (I shifted at about 5500rpm due to the new setup), I hit third and jump ahead. I only went the top of 3rd due to traffic and a busy area approaching. He as a cool kid, talked with him for a while, then headed home. My car is running pig rich because of the bigger injectors I just put in last night and haven't had tuning yet for them, or the cam/heads. It was pretty fun for me, first race I've been in since last summer hope to get some tuning/dyno numbers within the next couple weeks. I was kinda disappointed I didn't wax him worse

Matt,

If you don't mind me asking, who did the install on your heads and cam. I'm thinking of maybe getting a cam in the near futue and don't know of that many LS1 shops in the Northern/Central Virginia area. Thanks.

Rich, I did the whole install myself. Its really not that hard if you have the right tools, just time consuming. If you want to go that route check out jmx's site (www.ls1howto.com) he has a great write up that I followed step by step and didn't have any problems. If you want to have a shop do it, I believe fbody central (www.fbodycentral.com)can do it. They are probly the closest shop to northern Va. They are located in Severn (sp?) Maryland I believe. A friend of mine traveled up to Rapid Motorsports (sponser------>) to have his long tubes and a clutch installed, they are in Reading Pa, but I'm not sure how far from you that is.

Good Luck,
Matt

How do you put a chip in a LT1? It has the same OBD2 and PCM. You can only program them, no chips allowed.

db99sscam, That's what he told me, I was wondering the same thing. I recomended a torque converter to him and he looked at me like I was speaking German. I don't think he was very knowledgeable about his car. Oh well

Yeah, you'd be surprised how many people don't have a clue about their cars. You cannot put a chip in the 4th gen cars, although I believe someone did make a plug in module for the PCM that works similar to the HPP. I don't think they were popular though. Anyway, you can't believe everything you hear. I was just giving you a heads up so you don't go on believing that is an option.
