Is it just me or does anyone else find it hard to believe that a 350z with 4000 in suspension upgrades and SLICKS only pulled 1/2 a car out of the hole ?? Was the Cobra on Slicks too? If so I retract my statement. It just seems that a modded 350z with suspension and slicks would cut a nasty 60 ft time and the Cobra would get left at the line due to the traction advantage of the 350z running slicks. Just wondering not flaming or calling BS, just wondering.

Depends on the driver allngn_c5.. Some can't cut under a 2.1/2 60ft at the track then some can cut 1.8/9 on stock suspension and normal street tires.

I hear ya, on near new Michelin PS2's I was getting 2.2 and 2.3 60's

I think I was too excited and kept over revving the launch. I also left my tire pressure at 32. Dumb move. I could've dropped the psi and cut 3 tenths off at least. NO worries, I got some M/T 305 35r18's on the way.

Dropping pressure has rarely helped me much on street tires. Stupid unlta-stiff sidewalls.

Everyone said I would've had more tire making contact for grip if I dropped down to 25 psi. Thanks for the heads up. Lower pressure on DR's and such.

Yeah, on DRs it helps AFAIK. No personal eperience there. One thing I have noticed in the last couple weeks though is that at the recomended pressure 32 PSI, my street tires are wearing unevenly, with more wear right in the center. So maybe those people are right. If my centers are wearing at stock camber/ride height/pressure, maybe pulling a few pounds would give me more contact patch. Im track bound in a week, if I try it I will let you know. Im on an AWD, but the principals are similar. I get a lot of weight transfer with my soggy stock suspension, so the rears do most of the work anyway.

Your car is definitely capable of sub 2.0 short times at least.

Thanks for the vote of confidence SPARETIRE. If I hook a 1.8 with the M/T's that are coming I should be mid 11's. 1/4 mile racing is won or lost in the first 60 ft. I had to learn that the hard way.

sounds like a stillen to me......which is weakest blower for option the 350 ( and yes 350 guys know this)........

the Stang should absolutely walk all over this car, as long as it can lauch...
As I said I ran a procharged 350z a couple weeks ago my car with Lt's and ran dead even till 120....

aslo 4k for suspension sounds a bit exagerated.... but in any case , looking forward to the videos.... make sure you get a shot of the engine bay

+1 This is what it is. As for the tires, the cobra has a set of 315 BFG drag radials and is lowered 2 in. The 350's sus. is all air bags, he changes the settings with an electronic panel inside the car. The 350 cuts 1.6x 60 fts and the cobra cuts 1.7x 60s. The cobra owner had to work this weekend so maybe they'll be ready sometime this week.
The cobra went back to the dyno this past Thursday. There was still problems though. At 4700 rpms it made 530 rwhp and the voltage to the fuel pump droped causing the car to go lean. The alternator and battery has recently been replaced. We checked the voltage coming out of the alternator and it was 13.2. It's supposed to be between 14 and 14.5. Bad brand new part maybe? It doesn't matter though, were still gonna race him again. FYI, the 350 runs 7.7s in the 1/8th and the cobra hasn't been run as is yet.

A stillen 350z even with meth will not run 7.7 in the 1/8 mile. The stillen blower even with meth won't dyno over 340rwhp. Either he has a small shot you guys don't know about or he is lieing about his times. That car would be lucky to cut a 8.4/5 in the 1/8. It won't trap over 108 in the 1/4 either. The still stage 4 kit and meth on the cars has yet to make more than 340rwhp on any car. Some of the guys had to put nitrous on them to help the car out.

I know for a fact that he runs 7.7s. I seen his slip and watched the run. I know he's got meth on it as well. When he runs the car though, it acts like a car with gas. It runs good from the start but after a second or so it puffs out a little black smoke and starts running what looks like twice as hard. You'll see what I'm talkin about, I'll get it all on vid.

What's funny is that he went from running 8.3s to the 7.7s over night. He claims it was all due to the sus.

Sounds like he has had gas the whole time.

A stillen and meth won't run those times, i know that for a fact.

I'm glad your leting my know these things. It's the only supercharged 350Z we've got around here. The only person that really knows anything about them is the owner and he's not giving us much info on his mods. The guy has a lot of money and the only place he's ever had any work done is the dealership he bought the car from. They installed all of his aftermarket stuff. The owner says he's got the supercharger, meth, suspension, built rear end and a custom tune. I talked to the guy that owns the cobra earlier today and he's going to wait until he gets his electrical problem fixed. I'm putting the motor in my car this week so hopefully the week after next I can get me a piece of the action as well.
