Default finaly raced a 03

this morning i was heading out to creedmoor on i-85 when i see this blue cobra coming up behind me, i wasnt sure what year it was until it got beside me. i was admiring how beautiful this car looked and sounded. i guess the owner decided he wanted to play.. i said to my self sweet!!, he down shifts and i down into 3rd (wasnt sure what gear he was in) i wave at him to go so he mats it i do the same and pull about 6 1/2-7 cars on him by the time i hit 4th,i said to myself no way so i slow down around 118 and let him catch back up,he rolls his window down and ask me to go again so i said yeah,..this time sounds like he shifts to a earlier gear then before and again i go back to 3rd i hit it this time first and he keeps up for about a second and then i start pulling hard on him and again the same out come except this time it was only about 5 1/2-6 cars, he catchs back up and we take the butner exit and pull over into jacks convient store and talk for a while.. very nice guy said he had a 2.8 blower pully i believe, full exhaust, chip, and not sure what else, i was really impressed with the performace he had. Sorry so long guys, will have tuned/dynoed soon as i can, cant wait to see what im putting out in this new engine...will post ASAP when i get numbers

Great kill. I still haven't found one of these on the street. I did find one at the track but no street action as of yet. Nice job.

Good kill--
Was the other guy impressed by all your hard work under the hood? I bet he was.
I sure hope you killed him with those numbers--damn fast!
Great kill.

Great kill! You must be packin a ton of ponies to put 6 car lengths on an 03!! I have yet to encounter an 03 but I'm going to keep my fingers crossed. Could you email me pics of your car, sounds pretty sweet mvello@vt.edu

Thanks,
Matt

Kinda curious how you are measuring your car lengths, it seems pretty accurate.

LOL, good kills.

Nice Kill, I got to race an '03 the other day, he got the jump but I hung at his door until about 85 when I shut it off. They're pretty quick, but not LS1 quick.

Had a chance at one the other day, we were ready to go after miles of traffic, scoping each other out. We get on the expressway, things clear, he punches it, I had a 6th sense of what awaited us on the other side of the overpass - GRIDLOCK!!! Brakes!!! DOH! Too bad, would have been great.

hondakiller,

I don't mean to belittle you, but stock to stock isn't a fair test. How about $ to $. From the dealer an ss is 32K at most where as the cobras are 38K, so put 6K into an LS1 and race them and see who wins. NO CONTEST!

Stock for stock is the ONLY way to compare. I could get a Neon for $19995 and put 12 grand into it and spank your 32k LS1.....see how crazy that sounds. Once the mods begin, all bets are off. And BTW, it should be very easy to find a Cobra for 32k.....that is an average deal. A vert would be near what you are saying....but could still be had for under 38k.

$ to $ get used 03 for 30k and put 2k into it. Pulley, chipexhaust and CAI.

Didn't want to start a flame war, damn. I was mearly stating that brand new one costs more, so with a little money the other could be just as fast, or faster. It all depends on how much you want to spend.
