Granted the spool time sucked on the big turbos, but the cams helped spool them earlier in those cases.
Would that not be universal with big turbo 4-cyl? Well from a parts matching standpoint at least?

BIG turbos cams will help spool time
Small ones you get a little bit of lag but alot more power

It sounds like he is on the stock turbo, which is actually really similar to a the 2G DSM turbo. AKA slow hair dryer. That thing would not be breaking any tire loose save a donout spare.
You beat him because you have more traction, more power, and less BS. Nice kill.
Sr20s are like any other well built low displacement engine. they are great in the right hands. If the system (fuel/turbo/manifolds/cam/intercooler/clutch/plumbing/etc) has a big weak spot, the car will be slow. If not, it'll be a fast lil bugger. I kinda like that personally. You can tell posers from real enthusiasts pretty fast in the lower displacement world.
