On pump gas he can easily be making 300-350rwhp, an s13 240sx only weighs about 2900lbs with full interior. Just my opinion, you should ask him how much boost he is running and look over his car to make sure it isnt gutted because if it is he could weigh as little as 2000lbs. Be careful especially from a roll because if he puts down 300+whp and has some weight reduction he will kill you. Good luck and get a video, BTW where is this going down at?

They can be mean lil ****** with a bigger turbo and cams to help spool time.
As stated above, see what boost he is running, it can turn out to be a good race.
I ran a S13 hatch w/ stock t25 and FMIC, lil bit of a boost increase in my A4 Z-28 gave him the go and we ended up in such a close finish i still honestly do not know who won that race. So beware esp. if it's gutted.
Not saying you should be scared by any means just know your opponent before jumping into things.

Ive had numerous 240's .. It depends on what his "turbo" upgrade is and what sr it is.. I had a redtop with a s14 t-28 and at 11psi I ran a 12.8 and was making around 260 to the wheels .. It had a wastegate act good for 18psi but I never got around to a tune or bigger injectors to support it safely.. Also mine weight right over 2800lbs full interior with driver.. And Im sure if hes calling you out he has atleast a vlsd in the rear so its sitting on 4.08 gears..

My freind was making 280whp and was running high 12s with his T25 240
With 390whp it was DEEP in the 12s with old old drag radials and a decent driver and that was with a TD06 20G with 20 psi
Now the car has a set of cams, AEM,slicks, and 32psi and race gas..with alot of weight taken out, that ****** is going to move our hard

1) More important than boost is what turbo. 18PSI on a T25 is very very different than 18PSI on a T28, which itself is still a tiny turbo.
2) Cams dont help 'spool'. They generally hurt it a bit. By going for more top end flow, they hurt down low flow and thus boost threshold, which is where the turbo really starts to hit. Stock turbo cams are virtually always focused on the 3-5K range and are thus the best for boost threshold.
3)You have a decent mod list there. Im betting you make more WHP. Use that.

I own a 240, be weary of it, they can make from 549 whp to 330 with what you mentioned. Theres a twinscroll kit out there that can use gt35rs and gt3037r's or other large turbos.
what kind of times are you running from what you mentioned he can be deep into the 11's with a good driver. If hes running the stock manifold hes most likely using a gt2871r which can either be a .86 or .64 trim, people have made over 400whp on stock manifold .64's and the larger .86's have made 430 but are very laggy.
Id ask him specifics. Know your enemy. If you dont have the chance then good luck, I hope the ls1's torque can get him.
Edit: damn he didnt show up.

Would that not be universal with big turbo 4-cyl? Well from a parts matching standpoint at least?

It depends on how you define spool and boost threshold and Lag. A high performance cam (stockers are almost always rediculusly conservative) will help the top end a LOT, at the expense of power and response below some RPM, usually about 3500 on a 2.0-2.4 DOHC with an aggressive cam. So on the 2-3 shift with a big turbo, you might see that big turbo back up to full boost faster with the hi-po cams. The shift point and all the RPMs fall into the high end where the cam flows much more. That could cause a decrease in LAG. But no free lunch, especailly in FI. The penalty is less flow/power below a certain RPM. Thats going to hurt Boost Threshold, the RPM where the boost starts to build up rapidly. Thats what most people are thinking off when they think Spool. So you will hear a lot of turbo guys talk about their boost hitting a bit later in the revs after cams. This is especially true if they also do a nice high flow intake manifold. Its virtually always a very good trade though. Even if the full boost hits later, the cam makes more power per a given PSI while its spooling up, so the performance is similar usually, then the top end just walks away from the stock cam.
On those 2.4s, it will probably help cylinder filling at high RPM big time with some extra lift on that long stroke motor. I used to run a 2.4L 4G63 based motor. It had a 100MM stroke. Do your math and thats similar to a 383 strokers stroke! So any additional lift will really help at over 6000RPM. My engines power was all between about 3500 and 6000, kinda LS1 like actually. After about 6100 the stock intake manifold and cams and IC plumbing just strangled the 20% increase in displacement shortblock. Still quick. Ran a 13.8 on 12-13 PSI, which is nothing for a turbo 4 banger built for boost.
Sorry for the novel LOL.

Your freind needs to run at least 18psi, and have FULL boltons to be quick
