... and won -- not suprisingly. However it has some funnyness to the story.

So I'm on my way to a friends house when I see a silver 99-04 GT. One of the one's with the black spoiler and such. From what I initially saw, he had at least exhaust. Got next to him and we ackknowledged each other (you know the head nod thing lol).

We catch a red light light, but I had to get behind him due to car in the left lane. The light turned green and he got ahead of the car in the left lane enough for me to get next to him. So we were there for about 2 seconds when he punched it, as did I. I pulled and pulled. By the time I shifted into third I had quite a few cars on him. I'll estimate 3-4.

I slowed down, got the thumbs up, and returned the favor to him. Here's the kicker though. So we get to the next light and he goes to me. "So what's that pushing, like 400hp?" Dead serious. I had to disappoint and say "nope, just a air lid". Proceeded to ask what he had and he said "a few things". I'm assuming boltons. Not sure auto or manual either.

So give it up, would ya. I have 400hp with only a lid! w00t!

Well....a stock ls1 does make close to 400hp. The crate engine makes 400 an is practically identical to the one in your car. Nice kill, those things are dawgs, my buddy beats them down all the time in his v6 altima.

Yeah I had one ride my *** like a foot from my bumper bouncing his front end. He went for the pass, I downshifted by the time he was at my door, I stopped his pull and pulled him easily. He was CAI/UD pulley/gears/short throw/full exhaust.

my brother has a 2000 gt with intake, 3.90 gears and a catback. talk about slow. he literally gets beat by almost everthing; my 3.0l accord beats him not by much mind you, but hey its a honda. if i had to guess i would say his stang only has 220-235rwhp. so yeah 90% of the 99-04 gt's are slow and are not worth an ls1s gas. dont try to church em up Irunelevens most mustangs are just plain slow.

k maybe i was low ballin by 200hp, but stock a 2000gt will only put down like 215-230whp. only a 100 hp less than a ls1 lol. thats one of the only reasons i hate drivin a stang, look at some of my pretasecors, however you spell that word lol

Not to start anything but I thought the LS1 was 350 hp? Are talking about the same LS1 found in the C5,GTO, Camaro Z28/SS, Transam/WS6?

If so I believe the 350 hp is a pretty accurate rating for the engine..The GM Drive terrain doesn't suffer that much loss.

Well that car has the ability to be solidly in the 13s, so if he's barely beating 15s Accords, that sound like a personal problem to me . Most 99-04 5spd GTs put down about 230rwhp stock. But also about 270-280lb/ft of torque, which is not "weak." They might not be (stock vs. stock) in the same league as the LS1, but still not "slow." I enjoy my car (though I'd rather have an LS1), and I think it's pretty pitiful how you can call something a piece of ****, or "slow," just because you happen to be faster.

I agree with you. I have a 2002 GT. Ford was not competing with GM in the horsepower dept. I think they were trying to out sell the LS1 units. Some times guys in faster cars try to talk S*** but I have something in the garage waiting for them.

I wondered the same thing...black Spoiler?...He had to of added that to a GT....GT's don't have black spoiler's and Mach's didn't come in Silver.

I really must be missing something here. I have seen 12's in the GT without head work, aftermarket cams or anything other than "bolt On's". Except for gears-----not even headers. My stang was at least .2 faster in the 1/4 than my SS was stock. The Mach sees 13.0 stock with 300hp. The LS1 sees 13.0 with 325hp. I dont see many stock LS1's lower than 13.4 to 13.2 at the local track. Yes I see many of them and no not all of the drivers suck. Hp per liter is the same in a stock GT as a stock LS1. 55.26hp/ltr in the ls1------56.52 in the GT with 260hp------65.21 in the mach------84.78 in the Cobra-----71 in the c6 zo6. Really, all of these vehicles are astonishing compared to the 60's and 70's muscle. CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG.. PS.......I have a GT that is not a waste of gas for any ls1 F-body if they want. Have an Ls1 Fbody for any GT that wants some too Have an old P.O.S. that has a very bad idle or vacuum leak----Cough-----cough----cough for anything else.

Definately was not a Mach... that much I know. It would have been a much better race if it was Perhaps he added the spoiler on aftermarket and hasn't had it painted? Not really sure though.

I knew they were slower, and "not worth the gas" but I just enjoy racing... that and the guy was damn cool too, so can't complain. Besides, you never know what they have under the hood until you run.
