Im sitting at the lights late last night, and a black 05+ mustang pulls up to me. I havent had any action at all this year, so Im getting exited. He looked pretty much stock, but "just in case", I opened the valve to the bottle behind my passenger seat and kept the ashtray lid open hehe.

He's looking over with a $hit eating grin on his face and when the light turns green, there is a moment where we werent sure the other one was going to go or not. I confirm that he is on it, then blow by him UNUSUALLY easy .. something is amiss... no v8 roar coming from his car....

I slow down and let him pass me.. and omg. I cant believe I wasted my time with a stock v6 stang with rims!!!! Funniest part was that he had a license plate that said "IM LIVN IT"

It was a V6 with a Pony package . Ford calls it that. All the looks of the V8's But no go power.

The smaller fog lights are a dead giveaway IMO. Other than that and the GT logo on the rear-end, I wouldn't know how to differentiate the V6s from the GTs. And I wouldn't be surprised if those were the ONLY cosmetic differences.

Only the GT500 and Roushes particularly stand out.

 

Does this pony package come with side decals? The car I "raced" had either white or light grey decals running along the rocker panels.

I can tell a gt from any other cause they have the rear molding for the dual Exhaust atleast the 99-04 I think the 05 and up do to.

 

That's how I always spot them too, but I think the 05+ V6s also have a dual exhaust pony package. A little while ago I was behind one and it had daul exhaust and the molding for it, but it didn't say gt anywhere and it sounded like a V6.

noone get their undies in a bind...imo mustangs & fbodys should only be made with V8's
