01' Ls1 TA vs. 06' Nismo 350z
Tonight coming back from Scottsdale got some good runs with a 350z.
We were both on the 101 heading south and just went through a portion that was down to 45 and we both just passed eachother. Once we got out of the zone and past all the cops we both ended up next to eachother and I downshifted to 3rd to see if he'd be up to run..
So from about 65-70, he hit it and I gave him at least a full second before I hit it also, but hit traffic up ahead. By about 90-95 I was catching up to him and had to get into the far left lane... We both slowed down and he merged to get onto the 60east, So I headed over and we both hit the off ramp.
We get onto the next highway and we got lost in traffic and so I sped up to catch him down a ways. Here's where we got two straight up runs...
Right next to eachother, no honks just both hit it pretty simultaneously at 70, up to about 110ish I had at least 4 cars on him and we slowed.
We both slowed next to eachother and rolled windows down and complemented eachother with thumbs up "Good runs" we yelled. So we lined up again this time around 70-75, and I gave it three honks.. We both went on three good timing. This time I took my Trans Am up to about 135 and while he was somewhat keeping up. I had a good 5+ cars on him by the time I was rolling into the 130's, and I kept checking my speedo.
At this point he came by and we both gave props and went on our ways. So after a moment he comes by and is signaling with his hands 5-0. 5-0. and I was like "oh **** is he saying five-o!"... He yelled over he saw some cops and I was like "Get off. and pointed over".. So we both got off and flew up the off-ramp he slowed thru the "no turn on red" right and went and I was like oh **** and just went after him... So I thought he was long gone and I was just gonna head home. Soon enough he ends up right on my right and he signaled over and we both pulled into the strip mall and got out and talked about cars and stuff. Turns out he's just got intake, 06' Nismo package.. He didn't want to go from a dig, but we'll both probably hit the track some time. Nice looking car and a nice guy, we exchanged info..He's talking about more mods and possibly a turbo.. So I'll be talking to him in the future, tried to get him to register here. Fun. Night folks. My mods in sig.

dont really need a stock TT 350z version. since you can by TT setups for them. 350z has one of the largest aftermarkets. more so then the 300zx ever dreamed of.

Nice runs man. Watch it in there, the 101 realy is a bit of trap IMO. You have the speed cams up by Shea and the Cops all over by the Pavillions. The area near the Mall way up north aint exactly speed freindly either.

stock for stock the ls1 is faster than 2006 z, nismo just means he had boltons at best, and even if he did you have some as well so the race isn't surprising. good kill.

Seriously, it's pretty risky out here. I actually had to travel out to Tatum/101 last week and was surprised at all the speed setups. I rarely have to dip past Indian School / Chapparal off the 101.
To matt3383, Actually he mentioned racing specifically a camaro ss that was an ls1, he said it took off quick and would have had no chance didn't want to waste the gas.. that was probably you. His car was grey metallic I think, it was at night.

So to sum it all up, the LS1 stock is faster than the 350Z stock (all of them 2003-2007).

I dont think anyone has really raced an 2007, well I initially thought maybe his was an 07, but the argument on here is that an 07' WILL fair much better than all previous years.

IMHO the 350Z only makes sense when it is turboed. It's got a overbuilt driveline, a tough chassis, capacity for big tires, and iron block, fairly low compression, etc.
All features that are great for a turbo 3.5L and not really needed or even harmful for a NA 3.5L.
They can handle something like 500WHP on the stock long block.
I have no idea why they offered these limited edition Nismo versions for like high 30s and never did a TT version. It would help to sell the basic trim levels as well as be profitable on its own. Nismo could build a warrantied 400HP turbo 350Z or 370Z at the drop of a hat, and charge 40K plus for it. The cars hype would guarantee buyers.
