Default 01 vette vs. 06 gt

caught a new stang at a light. exhaust and cai. I was not even thinking bout racing till he started revving it (maybe he has some sneaky mods) . Light turned green, he takes off, so i put the throttle down half way pull on him, then mash it and put bus lenghts and shut down. He gave the thumbs up which i thought was cool.

1st racing post so be easy.

The heaviest new GT coupe is still like 3450lbs... that's not much more than an LS1 F-body

Edit: And the base GT coupe is under 3400lbs.

I did "look into that." Those are the numbers I found. They all range from about 3375lbs, to just over 3500lbs for a fully loaded coupe.

my car weighs 3700, without me in it. and i went to the track once since i put the turbo on, i wan on 17in. drag radials and had incredible traction issues, i only made one pass, with a 2.5 60ft, and just let 3rd and 4th pull it down to a low 12 at 118, that was in 100 alabama weather, on a good day its got mid 11s in it at prob 119 120

NIce kill OP.

Seems this thread could use some stang knowledge.

GTs are ~3450 pounds. They were initially going ot be alot heavier. The 'pig' status stayed with them...but they did shed some pounds for production. The GT500 COUPE is a hair under 4000pounds...the vert is over 4k. WHY?...simple.....5.4L motor with charger and I/C.all the pluming, body kit, upgraded brakes and suspension..yadda yadda..just like the 03/04 cobras weighed more than the GTs.
