Default C5 vs. C6

just cruising today in the c5 when i am stopped at a light next to silver c6 vert, auto i believe with some nice exhaust. i give him the nod for a nice car, light turns green, got the tunes up loud, next thing i know he guns it, i slam the throttle stop his pull and start to reel him in, as we start to approach another red light. this time I'm game and ready to show this guy who he is messing with. light turns green and i just slam it, and leave him by about 5-6 cars. stop at another light and he wont creep up, he got what he asked for and a whole lot more.

i love the c6's just seems like the drivers dont give us c5's respect some time.

What kind of power are you making with your combo ??

Good kill on the c6 too. Always nice beating the car that replaced the one you are driving......kinda makes them wonder hmmmmm, why did I get a c6 or time to mod this SOB. Either way works out well ....

Ha ha ha..

The only thing hat sucks s that they dont need nearly as much mods to hange...

This one time at the track my 2.73 auto C5 had
Ls6 heads
-224/224 cam and a few bolt ons

There was another guy there with a full exhaust/intake 2.73 geared auto C6..

WE WERE DEAD EVEN ON 5 1/4 MILE PASSES

I remember thinking how fast he would be with my LS6 heads and 224/224 cam

The track was RaceWay Park located in oahu hawaii...

With the bone stock 299/309 SAE rwhp my C5 ran 13.55 at 101-103 mph pretty consistently off 2.0 60 fts..Once ran three 13.5's in a row

2.73 geared auto 2004 C5

then with the mods in my sig the car was only tried on one night ( the last night that the drag strip was open before being permamentally shut down)

On this night the car with all mods in sig and 378/370 rwhp SAE ran 12.80 at 110.83 with the bestmph ever being 111 mph...

I always used my vector performance unit that ipurchased from circuit city at the drag strip..

It was always within 1.5 tenths and 2 mph of my actual time slip I drove around and picked up 30seconds later...

After the track closed down permamentally I found a flat spot of road a 1/2 mile lond and continued testing 1/4 mile runs weekly with my bell tronics vector unit..

the best i even got with the bell tronics Vector unit and the C5 with the listed mods was a 12.68 at 112 mph...Not to far off from my actual time slip of 12.80 at 110.83

After selling the C5 and etting the viper the best I ever managed in the gen 2 viper with it's 450/500 rwhp SAE was 12.2 at 121.7 mph...

But this was spinning through first, second and a lil bit of third on the unprepped surface of a regulat street road.

While the C5 auto just chirped first to obtain it's 12.68 at 112..The Viper spun like crazy even when at half throttle to obtain it's 12.2 at 121.7...

So in the 1/4 mile with me magically driving my auto C5 and Viper at the same time....The Viper would have only been around 4 tenths faster unless an actually prepped surface..

But from a 70 mph roll the C5 wouldnt have had an chance..Even when the gen 2 Viper was stock...I think even when my Viper was dead stock I was clipping 117 mph trapps?????Ill have to go check out the loggs to verify...

With my modded c5 BPU supras with low 400 rwhp numbers were a lil scary..

With the viper even dead stock BPU supras wernt much and I could hang witjh the 500 rwhp ones....

Just night and day

Good cannibalistic kill on the C6

While the extra duration would certainly help, the LS2 already has what are essentially LS6 heads. The valves are solid, but they're the same diameter.

Upgrade those gears and you will solve this problem rather easy.

I think the problem with a lot of vette drivers (present company excluded) is they don't understand that people mod their cars. They by a 400 hp car and assume every other camaro, or whatever, is still running the stock set up. Oh, except for the addition of a k/n filter...

No disrespect to vette owners on the board. Its guys NOT on the board that have problems.
