They CAN be made fast and 700-800 ftlbst is pretty common with tune/few mods. Problem is 6000+ curb weight.
I'll keep driving mine, towing my cars and such.
This one might get a

I saw a big diesel truck hualing a quad in the bed hang side by side with a C5 vert from highway speeds to 100+. The guy in the truck has a HUGE smile on his face and pointed to the bed. I have no doubts from the dig and no quad the truck would have smoked the vette.

Diesels can be fast with proper mods. A friend of mine has an 02-03 F-250 with a tune and full exhaust...he's running mid 12s. He killed my stock LS1 once
The problem with a diesel is weight like 04Terminator said, and most of the diesels I've run into out on the street (not necessarily racing, just ones I've seen out) have 4" lift kits and bigger wheel/tires. My friend's F-250 is a regular cab BTW. It's also his work truck lol

there are 2-3 diesels in my apt complex that make their turbos whistle when they drive by my parked car(clearly on purpose)
everyone of them is the owner's work truck.ive also had a few try this on the road...one of the guys that lived here tried it when i had just gotten home and i hadnt cut the engine yet so i revved right as he went behind me with his windows down
you know that pissed him off

I got a guy at work with a F-250 that would wax your car..I say that cause the ran side by side with me when I had my Hotcammed LT1, and that ran 12.6's no problem.
It's actually pretty imprerssive to see something that weighs that much go that fast.

Kinda funny the bias here. My daily is a Duramax 4x4 4 door that makes 495/1044 with ONLY a tune (it's called EFILive... look it up) and still gets 20+.
Oh, and my truck will last three times as long as any car that can keep up with it.

just have to tell yall this. i drive a 95' dodge ram 1500 with a freakin 3.9L v6.(needed gas mileage through highschool, damn parents=slow gas saver truck)but anyways. my buddy has a '01 cummins it has an edge juice w/ attitude monitor, MADS Smarty, and he plugged his wastegate and i can just barely beat him! I laughed my *** off. it was sad since he has so much money under the hood of his ****. the truck cost 20k with 2k under hood. mine costed $1,200 rebuilt tranny myself and gave it massive hell, still do.
