03 cobra VS 2001 SLP SS

From all I've read and watched about cobras, stock they aren't as fast as they're made out to be. Mustangs are pigs, if they were to be put on a serious diet, their performance would greatly increase. Keep the LS1

Don't be so ignorant, Termi's weigh 3650. Not even 200 lbs. diff from an f-bod
And yes, stock cobras are fast, and are easily made very fast. Their blocks are superior to ours, they are tough to drive tho.
I have spent ~$1000 on my SS in mods so far and the only way I can take a Termi is on the juice. It takes much more than $500-600 as said above to run with them.
I would trade my SS for a Termi ANY DAY if I had the money,

Here again, driver is the issue. I like the Cobras because their fast and indestructive but they are not even close to being better than our beloved lsx cars. Supercharged vs NA should tell you something. Besides, stay NA add a cam, exhaust, gear, tune and dots and you'll eat them alive. LS1 Camaros are almost as fast stock. The question is how fast can you drive them?

well I dont know I figure life is short and I will like to drive some fun cars. however I believe the cobra engine is a bit overenginerred. 4 cams and a supercharger. I guess thats what it takes to keep up or smoke an LS1. I will think about it also thinking of trading it in for an LS2 GTO or WS6. I hear their some stock LS1 with a catback running high 12's . Its confusing both are great cars. Keep the suggestions coming though

the guys in that video are idiots. can't drive for anything. Whoever edited the video said that the guy in the SS deleted his free ram air mod. LOL it said !FRA. Plus, the results were all over the place, I think the Cobra driver was scared. Either way, the cobra should be faster unless something is wrong with it.

hey the cobra is a very nice car but very hard to hook from the line. If you want performance for less keep your f-body. I bought a used yank converter(400.00), pacesetter headers& y-pipe(350.00), hooker cat-back(100.00), whisperlid(50.00), set of drag radials bfg(300.00) and a 02Z28 with 36,000 miles for 12,500.00 and went 11.80 @ 112 in the 1/4 mile and have beat all the cobras that I have ran (similar mods of course). My car cuts 1.55 60ft times on a regular basis and not many cobras can do that.

Like someone else said, those you tube comments are just plain flat out stupid. Bunch of non info jerk offs who think they know everything. By the way the Cobra will be faster. Do what you want to do, but dont start a thread about this, all you get is BS up and down, its up to you. Search all the million other threads like this, they all end up the same from flame wars. . Just do your own homework, the more people you have doing it the more confused you will be.

The Cobras are only low 13 second cars, that isn't that impressive, and we've seen a stock LS1 dip into the 12s on more than 1 occasion.
100rwhp of course not, but a noticeable difference above 60? Without a doubt.
There was an extensive test done by Sport Rider on SuperSport motorcycle's ram air efficiency, and the results would shock you. Positive manifold pressure after the filter at speeds as low as 45mph on the better ones. They are literally getting boost, without a compressor. No dyno will ever show this, but to say it isn't worth **** would be quite inaccurate.

wow this thread shows how ignorant you truely are mr fiero. ok i believe you beat a z51 corvette, but do you know what they are. they are stock ls1's with a suspension package. a stock 03-04 cobra WILL spank a z51 and will beat the ss for sure. dan, a man i know, drove a stock cobra with drag radials to a 12.6 in the 1/4 mi. yes the new z06's are faster than the cobras but dont get good times do to traction issues(duh!!!!!) the z06 is rated at 11.8 -11.9. so you see that u are wrong
sorry and about your question cobras are stock vs stock alot more bang for the buck. they come stock with a forged bottom end and better engineering. if you were to do a mod for mod comparison with a termi and a ls1, the cobra would come out on top for sure.
thank you,
michael

you can't think about it like that however. a lsx has 5.7 liters of muscle where the cobras come with a puny 4.6. how else would you be able to compare the two, slap on an eaton m112 and throw in a quad cam car. either way, its run what u brung right???
and with your other statement, gto, maybe if you like the looks, but for the speed hell no. i have raced countless gto(ls2) in my time, when my motor was bone stock with only 4.10 gears and would beat them considerably. ws6 yes if you could find a even trade, but i would totally get the cobra or at least give it a honest try.

Motor Trend is showing a 13.12 @ 109.58 for a 2003 Cobra Convertible. On the same track, same day, a 2003 Corvette Convertible turned a 13.02 @ 109.59, and that's down 55hp from the mid-12 Z06.

Id say keep it and mod the Camaro, but its what you want and your money so do what you wish. Take a H/C Camaro/ Transam Vs a Cobra with a blow and some small mods as long as the drivers are equal the Cobra should loose. I have raced Cobras claiming that they have over 500rwhp when I was only putting down low 400s and walking away from them after a min. Not to say that if they weren't better drivers it MIGHT had been closer.
But again do what YOU want
