PS. If you are worried about your cars handling performance in the rain, don't own a rwd car with a v8.
I don't care if you own every suspension upgrade known to man and a set of slicks. If you have power on the street you aren't going to hook from a dead stop unless someone puts down some prep.

P.S. I'm not trying to get my car to handle in the rain but I also would like to be able to cruise at 55mph in the rain with no worries. Drag radials will not allow that. Especially wide ones.

LOL. Just ****** with ya dude. But what power levels are you talking about not hooking on the street? 400 rwhp or 1000? Cuz, I have seen a 68 camaro big block + 250 shot of juice and slicks hook and lift the tires on the street.

I have personally lifted the tires on the street but it took some prepping to do. On regular road my car spins through 4th gear on regular tires and through 3rd gear on 315 drag radials. And I can assure you that Camaro big block + 250 shot was not on street tires, nor was I when I lifted the tires. Lets come back to reality and not take this off into left field.

Even though I can't launch, I seem to always blow whoever I'm racing off the line and I spin pretty good through 1st so digs on the street aren't anything special to me... that and stuff does tend to go through a bit more punishment from a dig (especially at the track). Most of my races are freeway rolls (just where I seem to find the most action) and that's fine with me. Also, it's pretty fun to give the cocky dude in the brand new mustang a head start on the freeway and close a 2 car gap in a bout 5 seconds (not starting a flame war, just an example - i know not all stangs are slow). I'm very unbiased either way.

Why do people use the term "dead hook"?

You guys know that it's critical to get a certain amount of tire spin
right? If not, the car will go into tire shake and you'll smoke the tires.
That's assuming you're making some power.

Both, although I probably like digs best .... down here in the south you'll get torn apart for wanting to "roll" race though, the majority of fast cars around here are older guys with foxbodys and they wont race you from a roll. Now, when it comes to the higher mph rolls, I think that's stupid. Someone asks me to go from a 60,65,70 mph kick Im gonna laugh at em.

Because they know nothing about launching a high horsepower car. Most don't even know what "tire shake" is or what it looks like.

13 second cars have no need to worrk about it.

The camaro did have some big tires, hell i don't know, maybe they did do a littel prepping. But it was still bad *** to do on the street.

The way I see it, if we build our cars to go fast and brag about how much power its laying down, you dam well better be able to drive the thing either from a dig or a roll.
NASCAR vs. Pro stock, both turn 190-200 mph which is faster?

I do know what tire shake is... and what it looks and feels like.... but I didn't know that a lack of wheelspin causes it!! I always thought being planted was a good thing!!! Hey you learn something new everyday!! Tireshake that causes peddlefests are the most exciting runs at nhra events.

What about those that choose not to run a soft sidewall tire, and have a car that works well enough to "dead hook" on a radial?

This has already been addressed.... that just means you aren't making enough power!!!

I prefer racing from a roll, but usually when someone wants to race you from a dig they either have a auto car or a 230rwhp mustang with 28" DRs!

Everyone used to wanna roll race me at 35 mph when my car was bolt ons and a 100 shot. With Et streets i would drop the clutch in 1st gear off the rev limiter with the spray on. It didn't take long for them to realize that wasnt the way to beat me...........lol
