....honestly,...yes, I have, in f-bodys only. But,..even though this was on attempted WOT shifts,..I was able to IMMEDIATLY put the clucth BACK in,...as soon as I felt something wasn't right. I'm talking split second ****....cause if not,..you'll have serious valve problems,..and possible others.

My friend, ceaser,...has done this exact same thing,...and has ruined motors due to it.

I've done it 3 times - twice in competition. Each time was during a full-throttle powershift. 2 of the 3 times, the carnage was not pretty (all engine stuff).

Oh BTW....I suck and need to get an auto.

He didn't tell how he held it, but I told him for the shift to 4th he should just have 4 fingers over the top pulling it straight back.

Another thing is I've accidentally shifted from 2nd to 1st before. When I did that the car damn near came to a stop and the guy I was racing ended up beating my by 100 yards obviously. Last night this guy was only back a couple car lengths so yeah its gotta be BS now that I think about it.

Oh yeah, I ran an 8.6 @ 84.25 w/2.0 60'. I'm still working on the 60.
yea i actully have the hurst pistol grip handle and ive done it once but only once
the srt trying to make exuses
every srt 4 ive ever raced (killed) always have some dumass excuse

Never done it myself but my buddy has. Hes got a new rear end to prove it.

No way he missed the shifts. It would have been extremely obvious unless it wasn't even a race to begin with...

Yeah, with the amount of power I have and he suddenly stops accelerating completely I would jump ahead 50 yards.

I know someone who downshifted at the strip. Spraying a 100 shot. Blew a chunk out of the back of their intake manifold and notched the faces of a few pistons. Not pretty. It did give him an excuse to get a Fast intake. Real nasty though.

I did it yesterday....luckily didn't break anything that I know of. I was embarrassed to tell anybody until I realized it's a pretty common mistake for newbys...

You're talking to ghosts dude, this thread is 3 years old. Check the dates when you search up a post. Another pretty common mistake for newbies

i did it too twice... both while racing. the problem with fbodies, if if you hold it like a gun, and you pull directly down, your actualy going slightly towards your body, which is down and to the left, right into 2nd gear. first time i did it i have no idea wtf happened, and the 2nd time it killed it. started back up still runs fine

Nice resurrect... not the worst I've seen. Anyway, I've made this exact mistake once in the Mustang out of not paying attention. Caught me off guard and scared the hell out of me.

After I bought the car, about a week or so later I did it, but felt it happen so I didnt finish letting the clutch out and just let off. I sometimes still hold the shifter funny just to make sure that doesnt happen. Rather hit 6th than 2nd.

I was racing a Cummins once and shifted 3rd to 2nd...My car probably saw 9500rpm...

I don't think anything broke, but it was scary as hell.
