Default turbo'd civic

Sorry for the kill story and flame away if you feel the need (don't see why though).

A buddy of mine has a turbo'd civic and everyone's been begging us to race each other so we finally lined them up tonight for 3 runs.

I usually don't like running from a roll but I obliged him since that's what he wanted to do and from in second gear.

The first run was from about 35 in second and the passenger in his car went nuts on the horn so I didn't know when to go. I left as soon as I heard his turbo spool. I got about 6 to 7 cars on him by 110 when we let off.

He said I left early so the next run I let him get fully spooled and his back tire to my front bumper before I took off. I was shifting at about 6700 so I was at about 75 in second when I had to shift. He was already in high third by this time. Again we shut down at 110 but this time I only had about 3.5 cars on him since I gave him a nice jump.

The third run we went on the third honk. He was brake boosting so it help even the plain a little (Not enough though). I ended up pulling him by about 3 cars on the third run but we had to shut off early cause of traffic ahead.

I've honestly got to give him credit though for hanging in as well as he did. He built a good little civic. It's a lot faster than I would've thought.

Yeah I've shifted a few times at 7000 but by then I'm out of the powerband pretty much.

Oh duh. I read the upper part of your sig without seeing the bottom. I see you are cammed and all that. I thought you were stock shifting at 6700 and I thought that was pretty damn high! My mistake!

That's cool. No it's built a little. I need to do some more in the lines of intake and heads, along with new brakes and tires and I'll be happy for a while.

Posts like this make you sound dumb!!! The only reason why hondas have a bad rap in the reliability department is because broke assed kids are the ones who try to build them!!! There are three things a performance car can be......
1.Fast
2.Reliable
3.Inexpensive

The problem is you can only have two!!!! and this fact is magnified when it comes to hondas!!

A reliable, inexpensive car will not be fast!!!!

A fast, inexpensive car will not be reliable!!!!

A fast, reliable car will definitely not be inexpensive!!!

This is just a fact.... and until these kids learn the importance of clearances.... and tuning.... you will constantly see high hp hondas going kaboom!!! BTW.... the honda guys around you must have their heads up their asses..... 3-4 cars behind you and breaking motors.... I didn't start breaking **** until 350+whp and that will rape you... not stay 3-4 cars behind!!!

sometimes it really isnt so much what you say, just how you come off saying it...

presentation is 9 tenths of the law...

i could come up with a few more clever aphorisms to get my point across but i think you get it by now

Your statement is only true of 4cyl imports, most v8 American cars can be fast, reliable, cheap, and good looking. I can build a fox-body, lt1 car, 3rd gen, etc. into a 10sec car with all new parts that would be very reliable for about 5-10k.
