hmmm makes me wonder if it was stock s2000 i ran cause it kept up pretty good @ a dig. like i said i only put 4 cars on him by the time i shut it down.

It might have had a couple bolt-ons, but they can get off the line pretty well if you know how to launch them. Since they have little torque, you launch at 6,000-7,000rpm with barely any spin.

In that case then my stock ls1 is mid 12 second car.

Anyway an ls1 kills a s2000, was anyone suprised or something? S2000's are slow.

There aren't the kind of production differences in F20s and F22s as there are LS1s. They all pretty much dyno the same. So assuming the car has been taking care of, basically every S2000 is about the same speed. Differences in quarter mile times and street race outcomes vary mostly from driver error/inexperience.

Well having owned an 03 S2K, the outcome was pretty obvious to me. They are quick for a Honda, however I would like to see a stock F-body hang with in around some turns. Im not trying to start an arguement, but it wasnt built to drag race (although all these kids think they are drag cars )

Lol, yeah it's a pretty fun car to drive, but it needs more power. I was pretty much sold on it when I took it around some turns, it handles like its on rails. Here's a pic of our old S (sorry to get off topic)

How can you even argue? Fbodys are way better even a LT1 with 200,000 on the clock would beat a stock s2000.

And im sure a stock fbody can hang in the twistys, the camaro SS has won the SCCA 2 years in a row.

Depending on the track, a stock camaro is faster than a s2000. "Feeling fast" in the corners isnt always "faster" by objective measures like a stopwatch. See below:

stock s2k 00-present is capable of 13.6-7@100-103. not to many guys can run them that fast though. i ran 13.98@100 stock having never dragged a s2k before. with BPUs i ran 13.5's@105.9, more then enough to dispose of a stock LT1 car and give a lil scare to a stock LS1. boosted its sky the limit with a fully forged motor stock.

that being said, theres alot of asshats that drive them, and suck at life in general, so many of the replies dont suprise me. with a stock 4.10 rear end and some great gearing down low they can hang pretty well outta the hole against alot of cars.

good run, its hard to match the might LS1s power though.

No, not the exact same suspension. SS got slightly bigger sway bars, 17" rims with 275/40/17 tires and slightly stiffer springs/shocks.. but nothing radically different - most of then benefit comes from the wheel/tire combo which most z28 owners will have upgraded anyways.

A tighter track will favour an s2000, a faster more free flowing track will favour a camaro. The point is, you cannot automatically assume a s2000 will teach a camaro a lesson in the "twisties".

being the owner of S2K driven correctly they're very quick... i have matche my car aganist many 4.6L stangs and a few auto LS1 cars and have won... ofcourse my S2K aint stock but they r slow compared to a Ls1 motor but aint slow compared to another 4 banger....

Well, yeah I wouldnt expect an S2K to pull away from an SS in the straights, but on a nice twisty road (no professional drivers) my money would be on the S. Lol, im not going to sit here and argue it. Ive driven SS's, TA's etc, if you've never driven an S its hard to compare, believe me you can throw an S into corners with no worry, I wouldnt do that in an F-bod, just my .02 cents.

Sorry but S2000s are utter crap, and girly. They are even slow for a performance 4 banger, an STi or Evo would pull train lengths on one stock vs stock. Have you personally seen a Stock S2000 run 13 flat? I havent, but have seen numerous stock evos run that.

Moral of the story, buy an LS1 fbody and laugh at rice.

never raced an s2000, but i've driven one.
fun to drive, but deff not as fast as my car and I don't have the fastest camaro out there.

I'm sure with enough $ and mods it could be but anything could.

I could drop 20k into a big wheel and make it run 10's all day but why the **** would anyone want to do that.

I class s2000's into the same class as the miata and the new beatle.

S2000 (especially when it was released) is in the Boxster/Z3/SLK class. When it was released it performed nearly as well as the Boxster S in every category, and cost about $20k less. Not exactly a Miata, if you ask me.
